The golf world has been fraught with withdrawals from players in recent times. From Tiger Woods pulling out at the Genesis Invitational to Garrick Higgo and Tom Kim withdrawing from THE PLAYERS Championship, the community has witnessed its fair share of disappointing news. However, it appears Kim has not recovered from the health issue that has plagued him.

A tweet was shared by PGA TOUR Communications on their X handle (formerly Twitter) revealing the field for the upcoming Valspar Championship set to kick off on March 21, Thursday. While doing so, they also went ahead to point out how the South Korean professional withdrew from the upcoming event.

Unfortunately, it appears the golfer won’t be able to make it to the 13th event on the 2024 PGA Tour calendar set to take place at the Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor. However, as a replacement for the 21-year-old, a player named Trace Crowe was brought in to play the field.

Meanwhile, the Asian athlete had played a total of eight rounds at the event deemed as ‘The Fifth Major’ of golf before he was forced to pull out from the tournament. Interestingly, the Jay Monahan-led circuit had divulged the reason for the withdrawal as an unspecified illness. Moreover, during his short stint at THE PLAYERS, he could only score a total of two bogeys and a triple bogey on the 17th.

But, he wasn’t alone in withdrawing from the tournament. Garrick Higgo, after playing the 13th hole of the second round, was forced to pull out as well. The reason? Well, the golfer had gone ahead to suffer an injury on his wrist leading him to score a double bogey at the 13th.

THE PLAYERS Championship seems to be fraught with injuries and health concerns. Surprisingly, even Scottie Scheffler was spotted dealing with his neck pain during the second round at ‘The Fifth Major’ in TPC Sawgrass.

The current World No.1 started experiencing discomfort after the 11th hole, following which he couldn’t get the club back for his shot on the 12th. Fortunately, he managed to get a massage beside the 14th tee as his PGA Tour counterparts, Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas, hit their shots for the same. “Maybe it loosened up a tiny bit,” said the golfer before adding, “Most of the day I was pretty much laboring to get the club somehow away from me.”

But even so, he wasn’t deterred in the slightest as he expressed his conviction to play the rest of the event. The professional said, “I did what I could to kind of stay in the tournament today, and hopefully it’ll loosen up and then I’ll be able to make somewhat normal swings tomorrow,” while mentioning how he would stay and fight through.
