Arguments are part and parcel of the game. All the more so if the athletes have an immense passion for the sport. Take Keegan Bradley, for example. Even the 2025 Ryder Cup skipper had a similar experience in 2015. Let us then put on our time traveler hats and revisit the memory, specifically, the 2015 WGC-Cadillac Match Play. That was the time when the American golfer got into an on-course tussle with Spanish pro, Miguel Angel Jimenez.
It was the final hole of the week for the two of them when they got into a heated argument at the 18th hole, as per the PGA Tour. It all might have started with a ruling on the 13th hole that came after a lengthy discussion between the two. Anyhow, coming back to the 18th, Jimenez had gone ahead to supposedly remind Bradley about how he needed to take two club lengths for relief before dropping his ball. The spheroid that he hit during his second shot had landed on a golf cart path, allowing him relief for the same.
Unfortunately, Keegan Bradley did not take that well. Even his caddie, Steven Hale, wasn’t too impressed either. And what happened, as a result, remains a core memory for many fans to this day. The American’s looper got into an argument with the Spaniard causing the latter to ask him to ‘shut up’. “Do not tell me to shut up!” reacted Hale, following which Bradley also said, “Don’t tell him to shut up!” and that too in Jiminez’s face.

“It was just a heat-of-the-moment thing,” said the pro candidly after the whole ordeal. “It was disappointing. I’m pretty bummed out about it. It was just … I had a ruling and he felt like he needed to intervene and I felt like he was being inappropriate to me and my caddie.” And an ‘impetuous’ moment it truly might have been especially after looking at the results. For Jimenez had defeated Bradley, 2 Up.
“I have nothing but respect for him,” added the professional as he alluded to Miguel Angel Jimenez. “He’s a great player out here, but I have to be able to stick up for myself when I feel something is wrong.” However, this ‘sticking up’ that Bradley did is what caused his embarrassment, later on, as he came out candid in an interview a few years later.
Keegan Bradley recounted the Jimenez tussle in 2023
“Yeah, I hate it,” said the pro in an interview with ForePlay podcast back in 2023. He also divulged how the video pops up annually causing him to feel awkward with the whole incident. “Sometimes people underestimate me,” added the golfer, “I’m really embarrassed by it, and every year during the match play. Like, my buddies love it, so they’re like sending it in our group chats. I delete it right away because I can’t even see it because it’s so embarrassing”

But then, what was Jiminez’s reaction? “Whatever he say, now is finished,” said the Spaniard as he addressed the reporters after the match, “The round is finished and everything is done. We had a little discussion, but it is done.” Well, it appears even the ‘coolest man alive’, as per Bradley can manage to piss him off. Quite an interesting turn of events, don’t you think?
