The Sony Open in Hawaii finally crowns its champion! The second event on the 2024 PGA Tour calendar saw an amazing end to the four days of play as Grayson Murray took the lead in the playoff holes against Keegan Bradley and Byeong Hun An to grab the victory. The pro was able to tie with the South Korean and the American by registering a score of 3 under 67 on Sunday, pushing his total to 263 (-17).
The athlete was able to dominate the rest of the field, including Bradley and Hun An, by scoring a birdie in the par-5 18th hole at the Wai’alae Country Club ahead of the runner-ups. Through his victory, the professional was also able to rake in a total of $1.494 million from the total pool of $8.3 million. This takes the total tally of wins for the 30-year-old on the men’s circuit to two, almost six years after his last victory, which came back in 2017 at the Barbasol Championship.

The 2X PGA Tour champ is currently ranked at No.132 with figures of 41.12270 on the Official World Golf Rankings. However, his win would reward him with 48.96204 points, as opposed to 39.38391 which was awarded to Si Woo Kin for winning the same back in 2023. The new numbers would increase his total tally to 90.08474, all the while pushing him inside the top 75 on the OWGR.
The American was also awarded a total of 500 FedEx points along with the prize money and the trophy. This has propelled the pro to a projected third position on the FedEx Cup standings, tailing the likes of Chris Kirk, who won the Sentry and is currently at T1 with 744 points; and Hun An, whose runner-up finish, which carded him 245 points, predicts him to claim the T2 position with figures of 570.
