It was an electrifying showdown at Riviera as Homa managed to wipe out the three-shot lead that Rahm had held entering the final round on Sunday.
Alas, fate dealt a cruel hand as the 32-year-old failed to score a birdie in his last eight holes. And to make matters worse, he floundered on the par-4 13th hole, sending his ball into a tree. This resulted in a demoralizing bogey and losing his chance to earn $3.6 million.
In his interview after the event, Homa expressed that not being able to win the tournament when all his close ones were there to cheer him just makes him feel hurt and sad. “It hurts me not to – when I won in ’21, nobody was here, and it hurts me not to be able to do that with everyone here, my family and friends.”
However, he did acknowledge that he played a good game until the very end and tried his best to emerge victorious. Homa said while trying to hold back his tears, “But I tried, man.”

Moreover, he is confident in his talent and abilities and promises that he will win again. “I’m going to win it again and be able to do it in front of all these people. Yeah, that’s that.”
The emotional moment of the 6-time PGA Tour champion melted the hearts of his fans. They cheered and appreciated him and found his teary-eyed interview touching.
