Jason Day's new look: Is he the best-dressed golfer at the Presidents Cup?

He was once likened to a “clown” by fans. That was how much dislike the Malbon outfits and Jason Day raked in after being spotted in the same. Fast forward a bit to the Presidents Cup and the golfer’s bad luck seems to finally have taken a turn for the better. The reason? All thanks to his outfit on the greens ahead of the biennial event.

A post was shared by the official Instagram handle of the International team of the Presidents Cup. It showcased a series of snaps of golfers in the Mike Weir-led squad, or more specifically, the Aussies in the squad; Min Woo Lee, Adam Scott, and… Wait for it… Jason Day! “Two vets and a rookie,” wrote the handle under the post while alluding to the three, “The Aussies are ready for @PresidentsCup #IntlTeam.”

Day getting complimented for his Malbon Outfit. Huh?! Seems quite a stretch, you might think! But that is exactly what has happened as the athlete geared up for his fifth Presidents Cup appearance alongside rookie Lee and Adam Scott, the latter in his 11th start at the event. Don’t worry, for the fans were not making fun of the pro but were actually impressed with his attire. Yes, the same brand that they once dubbed as being similar to the ones “clowns” wore!

Jason Day’s ‘drip’ sends the Internet into a frenzy

His bad luck started at The Sentry. Back then, Day had been attacked, that too quite brutally you could say, by fans owing to his baggy pants. The excess fabric sure did not sit right with many. But come April, the Sentry drama would turn out to be the least of his worries, for the officials at Augusta National asked the golfer to remove his vest (yes, you read that right!) during the Masters. But no worries. He’s come a long way now with his fans dishing out comments including “JDay has the drip,” and “How drippy is @jasondayofficial in @malbongolf?”

Let’s take a look back at Charley Hull at the JM Eagle LA Championship. The LPGA Tour pro, back then, was spotted wearing Malbon Golf’s attire, or more specifically, a skirt and a sweater with the brand name spelled out. You might think she also garnered a lot of flak for her choice of clothes. But no, how wrong you are! The athlete raked in so much love for the same, with some even calling her an icon. Well, Jason Day can rest easy now, for a couple of fans dubbed him as an icon too as they responded with comments such as “Vibes and Fashion,” and “Fashion icons.” Another fan couldn’t help but point out how “@malbongolf threads are (fire) @jasondayofficial looking sharp my man.”

Have an interesting take?

A total of 12 golfers will tee off against the U.S. team at the Royal Montreal Golf Club. Six of them automatically qualified for the squad including Hideki Matsuyama (Japan), Sungjae Im (Korea), Scott, Day, Tom Kim (Korea), and Byeong Hun An (Korea). The remaining six including Christiaan Bezuidenhout (South Africa), Corey Conners (Canada), Mackenzie Hughes (Canada), Si Woo Kim (Korea), Taylor Pendrith (Canada), and Lee were handpicked by the captain. And the three Aussies, among the 12 of them, took the spotlight as a fan declared, “Best dressed groups, period!”

The golfer finally seems to have run into some good luck after months of being criticized for his clothing. What do you think? Don’t you think the trio looks good as they gear up to tee off against the world No. 1 and his team?
