The Southern Hills Championship Course in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is hosting the 2022 PGA Championship. However, did you know that it was supposed to host by a different golf course? And the owner of the said course, who is also a former POTUS, still feels heavy on his heart for not being able to host a major championship! 

It is not a secret that Donald Trump is passionate about golf. Other than playing, he has also made numerous golf courses in and out of America. Therefore, when he got accepted to host the PGA Championship, Trump felt more than happy.

However, the Tour changed the venue to the Southern Hills following a political tension in the US concerning Trump. Although the Tour reached a settlement with him and his team, the former POTUS is still upset about the matter. 

“It was fine, it was fine,” Trump said about the price the PGA of America offered him as a settlement. “But money can’t replace that,” he added. “I don’t need money and can’t replace that.”

“They (the PGA Tour) did something so terrible,” Trump further added. “They took away a major from somebody that’s done a great job for golf.”

The Trump Organization owns more than 15 golf courses around the world. And it is The Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, which got the opportunity to host one of the major championships in golf. 

Donald Trump to host the LIV Golf Series!

There have been many controversies regarding the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Series. Despite all the allegations, the LIV Golf Series is to begin on June second week. And each of the events in the Series is hosted by golf courses around the world. 

Significantly, the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster will host one of its tournaments. According to LIV Golf’s official site, the New Jersey-based course will host the event that is to take place from July 29 to 31.

Additionally, Blue Monster at Trump National Doral, Miami, is also a venue for the LIV Golf Series event. According to its website, the Miami course will be the host of the final event of the Saudi-backed league.

Although it might not be intentional, Trump has taken revenge on the PGA Tour by letting the league play on his course. The PGA of America considers the LIV Golf as its rival. Furthermore, the organization has even denied release to the golfers to play at the event. 

Trump is a golf fan and wants to host one of the major championships. However, will it be possible now that his courses are hosting the Tour’s rival league?
