Can Jay Monahan's bold moves really steal LIV Golf's fanbase, or is it just wishful thinking?

Gear up, golf fans! Another PGA-LIV drama is brewing up in the golf world, and this time it is related to you. That’s right, you, the audience. So, remember how the golf community has always bashed the PGA Tour for not taking their game out of the U.S. for the international fans? Well, it looks like Jay Monahan is finally on it.

After LIV Golf made waves on a global level, including in Singapore and Australia, the PGA Tour may be late to the game, but it’s not too far behind. In a recent post on NUCLR GOLF, fans got to see the new move by the PGA Tour, which included an epic ‘World Feed’ beginning in 2025 at The Players. “The PGA TOUR announces that they’ll be launching a ‘World Feed’ beginning in 2025 at The Players.”

The dedicated video feed will be tailored for international audiences outside of the U.S. That’s right, and to add to the joys, it will feature its own team of announcers, six cameras, and custom graphics to spotlight global golf stars. This production will be broadcast from the TOUR’s state-of-the-art 165,000-square-foot media facility in Ponte Vedra. Fans are over the moon with this news, and can you blame them? The PGA Tour is finally making a global move, which means more entertainment every day!

While it looked like the PGA Tour was losing the race, this bold move is not the only way the PGA Tour has defeated the LIV Tour this year. In a shocking turn of events, LIV Golf’s recent viewership numbers have been surpassed. According to Sports TV Ratings, LIV Golf’s Greenbrier event drew a minimal 136,000 viewers on Saturday and 165,000 on Sunday.

We all know that the LIV Tour and Greg Norman have been trying really hard to catch up with the PGA Tour. However, despite their best efforts, the PGA Tour is still the clear winner. Firstly, LIV Golf’s recent viewership numbers were a record for the tour, but they still fall short of the PGA Tour’s impressive numbers. For example, the PGA Tour’s re-broadcast of AT&T Pebble Beach’s Saturday round on CBS attracted 1.2 million viewers, while its live Saturday round had 1.931 million viewers—that’s about 11 times more than LIV Golf Mayakoba’s Saturday round!

Have an interesting take?

Additionally, LIV Golf’s 432,000 viewers on Sunday came with some lucky breaks, no competition from football, a storm that canceled the PGA Tour’s event, and an exciting storyline featuring top golfers. So, it’s safe to say that the PGA Tour really crushed this one. So, do you think the PGA Tour’s new ambitious move will prove itself to be a success? Let us know in the comment section below!
