Anthony Kim once took the golf world by storm, to be precise in 2008. His magnetism led to him being called the “next Tiger Woods” and he is not forgotten to date. He simply stopped playing golf in 2012 without saying goodbye. His Ryder Cup performance in 2008, though, will continue to live on.
A phenomenal show in the 2008 Ryder Cup
Some legends are not easily forgotten, and Anthony Kim is one of them. After turning pro in 2006, Kim won his first PGA Tour event at the Wachovia Championship in 2008. That year, he also won the AT&T National by two shots.
With this triumph, Kim joined Tiger Woods as the only American golfers to win two PGA Tour competitions under 25 in the same calendar year. His Ryder Cup performance, however, was what people will remember the most. In a big shock, he overcame seasoned player Sergio Garcia at Valhalla Golf Club in the opening singles match. It was a big deal beating Garcia those days.
The Ryder Cup USA paid tribute to his wonderful performance on its official website. They posted a clip of Kim making a shot during the 2008 Ryder Cup with the following caption: ”Incredible players. Unbelievable shots. @TheRyderCup is in 7 days! 🏆”
