The farewell of Jon Rahm is indeed a devastating loss for the PGA Tour. But it has come as a boon for LIV Golf. Already studded with many gems, the Saudi league has added another laurel to its collection. And given the previous record and outstanding achievements of the Spaniard, every player wants to be on his team.

Rahm will start his LIV journey by playing in their 2024 schedule. However, which team he is set to join continues to be a mystery. Meanwhile, other captains are happy to get a worthy captain.

After dropping the major bomb of his switching, the Tour is teasing fans through social media and asking them to share their predictions about Jon Rahm’s teammates, though one thing is confirmed, that he will be a team captain. Meanwhile, for Torque GC captain Joaquin Niemann, having Jon Rahm in LIV is a matter of great joy.

Niemann recently appeared on LIV’s ‘Fairway to Heaven’ podcast where of course, he talked about having the Spanish golfer in their league and added how all of his experience, including the Ryder Cup, would be a hoot for them. “Yeah, I think Johnny’s gonna bring a lot to the team even I think obviously we’ve seen how, how good he plays on Ryder cups and how good he is of a team player.”

Professional golfers did not get this privilege while playing on the PGAT. Niemann added that golfers like him and Jon Rahm were born playing team events for countries. They grew up playing for teammates and leading teammates. “I think we understand better how important the team aspect and we didn’t have this opportunity in professional golf.” Niemann expressed that having a team in golf is a great opportunity and in such circumstances, Jon Rahm would do really well.

He further added, “So I think it’s gonna be huge to have Jon as a captain as team leader on how he would do it with his teammates.” The Chilean golfer who himself just bagged the Australian Open at the beginning of December is not at all shy about giving credit where it’s due. This team aspect and all the other benefits Jon Rahm is getting from LIV are really impressive.

Perks and privileges Jon Rahm is getting from LIV

Besides getting a whopping $600 million deal, Rahm got a few other sweet perks from his new league. These include access to the Saudi Arabian private royal jet. Moreover, he has been granted a 10-person team to assist him, who will act as his personal assistant, personal chef and so much more. While Rahm himself has cited money as one of the reasons that influenced his decision to switch, at the same time he is insisting upon the growth of golf in the global market.

In his statement to the media, Jon Rahm said, “Being part of the team. Being a captain. Hopefully, I will be a leader to my team-mates. It makes me want to work harder than I have done now to actually prove myself.” How Rahm fares in his new league remains to be seen, but for now, other LIV captains are extremely happy to have him.
