The 2023 ride for golf star Justin Thomas has been a bumpy one. He missed more than five cuts this season, including three major tournaments. While these results were staggering enough, given the capabilities of the golfer, he found himself below the cut line for the FedEx Playoffs as well.

Despite a satisfactory T12 finish at the 2023 Wyndham Championship, it wasn’t sufficient for the professional to cross that 70th mark on the FedEx list, as he took the 71st berth. However, irrespective of the tough luck faced by the PGA Tour Pro, he showcased that golf is truly a gentleman’s game. And this act of kindness by the 30-year-old received applause from the golf world as well!

Justin Thomas’ benevolent gesture proves golf is more than just a game

The relationship between golfers and their fans is unmatched. No one can reciprocate the emotions that a fan goes through when his favorite golfer takes on the greens. However, the intensity of this bond increases when the golf icon also respects the love he receives. Something similar was witnessed on the greens in North Carolina when Justin Thomas concluded his last shot.

Per the video uploaded by the PGA Tour, Justin Thomas, after finishing his gameplay, can be witnessed signing his glove. Following that, the golf icon walks up to a young boy in the audience and hands it over to him. While carrying out this action, the two-time major winner can be heard saying, “Thanks for helping out my grandma, buddy. Appreciate it.”

This was an act of acknowledging the efforts of the young volunteer who had stayed beside Justin Thomas’ grandmother throughout the 18 holes. The scene was so enticing as it spotlighted Thomas in the positive role of a caring grandson and a humble human that even the PGA Tour account wrote, “Some things are bigger than golf.”

On cue, the golf audience behind the ropes broke out in loud cheers, and the camera focused on Thomas’ grandma. She could be seen wearing a classic visor cap and a light pink shirt and trousers. However, the heartfelt moment was when JT turned toward her; she sported a bright smile on her face. As the grandma hugged her grandson, she said, “Talk about a flashy finish,” acting like Thomas’ true supporter.

The 2022 PGA Championship winner who held onto his grandmother wrote “thank you” on the golf glove. Later on, the lucky fan even clicked a picture with JT and his granny. Fans also couldn’t hold back from flocking to the comment section. They praised the golfer’s action and wished him luck in his future endeavors. Many believed that, due to this loving gesture, JT would have gained more fans than ever.

Golf community cheers for JT and his ‘class act’

Golf fans are known for their loyalty and good eye for character. Hence, when Justin Thomas, his grandma, and the young boy featured in the clip went viral, most of the enthusiasts applauded JT’s efforts. A couple of them called the gesture “What a class act.
