The sport of golf has been undergoing significant changes and additions for quite some time now. However, this time, there has been a flurry of news updates surfacing one after another. Recently, Tiger Woods was appointed as the sixth player director of the PGA Tour Policy Board.

And now there has been another development in regard to the PGA Tour’s events that is for sure going to bring in many questions as well as endless reactions.

PGA Tour events to undergo a slight change in 2024

A highly unusual and attention-grabbing news story has recently surfaced regarding the PGA Tour events, which has sent shockwaves through the world of golf. As one of the oldest tours in existence, the PGA Tour is actively seeking to introduce more updates and enhancements to its Tour. That’s when they made the decision to announce a change of names to their event types.

Taking to Twitter, NUCLR GOLF wrote: Elevated Events’ on the PGA TOUR will be getting a name change in 2024. They will now be called ‘Signature Events’ per @Sean_Zak. The schedule is expected to be released next week.” Following Tiger Woods’ appointment, a recent updation of change in the event names has been circulated.

According to Sean Zak, there are exciting developments in store for the Elevated Events. Furthermore, there may also be changes to the 2024 event schedule, which fans will get to learn once the schedule is made public.

Weeks after its sudden and abrupt announcement, as fans were concerned with Tiger Woods’ eerie silence, he finally emerged as a beam of hope for the PGA Tour players amid the confusion and protest regarding PGA Tour commissioner, Jay Monahan. The lack of transparency and uncertainty regarding their futures had led many PGA Tour players to speak up and demand Monahan’s resignation. But when Woods announced that he would be joining as the as the sixth player director on the PGA Tour Policy Board, and that he was in full support of Monahan and his decision moving forward, a ray of hope was lit for the players involved.

Woods hopes to bring more transparency and represent the PGA Tour players presenting them with the right decisions moving forward. He said, “I am honored to represent the players of the PGA TOUR. This is a critical point for the TOUR, and the players will do their best to make certain that any changes that are made in TOUR operations are in the best interest of all TOUR stakeholders, including fans, sponsors and players. The players thank Commissioner Monahan for agreeing to address our concerns, and we look forward to being at the table with him to make the right decisions for the future of the game that we all love. He has my confidence moving forward with these changes.”

As far as the elevated events on the PGA Tour are concerned, there were a total of 17 tournaments planned for this year. In terms of prize money, each designated event had an impressive amount of $20 million approximately.
