The 2023 season was a tough one for Justin Thomas. The golfer had a journey that was not too steady but did not face a continuous downfall. There were moments when golfers scored well, but mostly, he faced a lot of wrath from the fans. Now, the golfer is barely clinging on, as his 2023 season may come to an end earlier than expected.

Even though his FedEx Cup qualification is hanging by a thin thread, the golfer has his eyes set on another goal. A goal that has forced him to make a confession that he himself thinks is pretty “messed up.”

Thomas has been fighting hard all season to get a solid finish that would help him re-establish himself as one of the best players on the Tour. Although his fight is nowhere close, his fate for the remaining PGA season is just outside the bubble. While everyone around him assumed his last-minute push at the Wyndham Championship was for the FedEx Cup Playoffs, everyone was wrong.

After a good score of 4 under 66 on Saturday, the golfer revealed his source of motivation at the Wyndham Championship, and it is not the FedEx Cup Playoffs but the Ryder Cup. When the interviewer asked JT about his future plans, that is when the golfer confessed to badly wanting to make the team for the Ryder Cup. He said that the Ryder Cup and competing on the team are very important to him.

Continuing his confession, he said that he would rather make the team for the Ryder Cup than make his way in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. “I mean, I legitimately would rather make the Ryder Cup than the Playoffs, which is really, really messed up to say, but it’s just the truth.”

Not only this, but the 30-year-old PGAT pro also said that it has been hard to avoid thinking about the Ryder Cup. Retrospecting his game in 2016, he said he did the same thing that year and tried to change the course of his game. Instead, he should have just trusted his ability and his talent, which were his focus now.

JT has been very upfront about his feelings about various things that are happening in the golf fraternity of late. Recently, he also expressed his two cents about his big brother, Tiger Woods, getting appointed as the sixth PGA Tour Policy Board Member. And, as you can guess, he had nothing but praise for the golf legend.

The golf world got surprising news a couple of days ago when Tiger Woods was announced as the sixth policy member on the PGA Tour board. During the practice round in Greensboro, North Carolina, the two-time major champion applauded Tiger Woods. He stated that he would not want anyone else speaking on his behalf in front of the board other than the golf great.

With a smile on his face, he said that Woods was too great to be just sitting on the couch and doing nothing. Praising the 15-time major champion’s dedication, he said that he is very serious when it comes to raising the players’ concerns and helping them out. However, even Woods in his new position won’t be able to help JT pursue his Ryder Cup dream. For that, he needs to rely on just his club!
