A total of 6 PGA Tour wins. Out of the same, two are major championship victories. It would truly be hard to deny if Collin Morikawa would have gone ahead to dub playing golf as his number 1 passion! However, surprisingly enough, it’s not the sport that the athlete has dubbed his “passion,” but something entirely else. And oh boy, his wife didn’t let go of the opportunity!
The 27-year-old’s wife shared a story on her Instagram handle while responding hilariously to one of Morikawa’s Instagram posts. “Real life pov,” captioned the golfer’s soulmate as she comically added a short conversation that someone would have with her about her husband. “What are some of Collin’s hobbies outside of golf?” wrote the athlete’s wife before she replied, “Uh, eating.”
This brings us to the PGA Tour Pro’s Instagram post. He posted a series of pictures of him having food, including a snippet from the exclusive 10-seat restaurant located in a subway station in Tokyo, the famous Sukiyabashi Jiro. “Food is a passion, not just a necessity #roundtwo,” wrote the golfer as he shared the ‘Foodie’ experience he had with his wife in Japan.

Yes, he is in Japan at the moment. The reason? Well, it all boils down to the upcoming FedEx Fall event that will kick off on October 24. Collin Morikawa is gearing up to defend his title at the 2024 Zozo Championship that will take place at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Japan. And by doing so, he would be hoping to end his winless streak ever since his 2023 win at the same event.

Maybe the Japanese delicacy would push him to win the upcoming tournament? There is a good chance of that happening since he experienced the same back in 2023 before emerging victorious at the Zozo Championship. And it was something that was nothing short of “special” for Collin Morikawa.

Not many would forget the iconic 2011 documentary about the world-renowned sushi spot, Sukiyabashi Jiro, named “Jiro Dreams of Sushi.” But only a few have actually tasted the exquisite delicacy, owing to the customers needing to book it a lot earlier to eat. And Morikawa, back in 2023, became part of that list when he visited the food spot ahead of the Zozo Championship. What’s more, he also went ahead to share a picture of him and his wife posing alongside Jino Ono and his son Yoshikazu Ono.

“Man, I almost don’t want to have sushi again because it was that special,” said the golfer when asked about it on Wednesday at the golf club. “Chef Jiro was actually making the sushi for us, which made it even that much more special… I don’t know how to explain it other than it just being an incredible experience and an honor to be there sitting in front of him and witnessing just talent, right? It’s the artwork.”
The golfer sure has a lot to say about the place and the food. It seems like his ‘passion’ aside from golf was able to achieve a peak moment back then. And he was able to replicate it once again with his beloved wife ahead of the 2024 Zozo Championship. Lucky, if not anything else!
