The 2024 weather curse of the PGA Tour continues. Event after event has been engulfed by what seems to be a permanent marker of the Tour’s events so far this year. The RBC Heritage seems to be falling next on this long-ongoing list of events, having faced long delays and postponements due to weather hurdles.
The PGA Tour recently announced the Sunday weather forecast, inviting sharp criticism from perplexed fans. As per the weather report, the first few hours of the event are expected not to be plagued by the predicted chances of showers and thunderstorms. On the contrary, the early to mid-afternoon hours might suffer at the hands of the weather gods.
The speed of the gusts of wind will also pick up marginally after 2 p.m., moving up to 20–25 mph later in the day. The likelihood of lightning will also see a massive jump from 0% to 40% around 2 p.m., with an eventual increase in rain probability peaking at 80% at 4 p.m.

Considering the track record of the PGA Tour’s destiny about the weather, it’s best to expect the worst. The final round started with Kevin Kisner headlining the tee time of the field at 8 a.m. The Tour’s delay in starting the event despite knowing the weather forecast for the rest of the day and a lack of preventive measures has left fans enraged. Here’s how fans reacted.

Sarcasm soon came to the defense of fans plagued by the leniency at the hands of the Tour. After repeatedly facing weather hurdles and being aware that the weather is predicted to falter marginally as the day progresses, the Tour and its authorities seem unbothered to many fans. A fan wrote, “Rain, t-storms, and 5x the wind for the later tee times but naaahh, let’s not start as early as possible… this is a Monday finish if I’ve ever seen one.”
Many fans were also enraged by the frequency of the same problem that continues to limit their viewing experience. The widest disarray among fans was witnessed, centered on Jay Monahan. Despite occurring from natural causes, the lack of proper decision-making and changes on the Tour’s commissioner’s end has led the fans to showcase their angst. One fan wrote, “So it’s definitely going to rain and they’re not moving tee times up or going off in threes? The local Ymca could run this league better than Jay Monahan.”
Another fan was quick to pose their comment on similar lines, highlighting the shortcomings on the Tour’s end. They wrote, “Why would you not tee them off early? The PGA Tour is such a clown show. The RBC Heritage is one of the most entertaining events on Tour and they somehow mess it up.”

The golf world might forgive, but they surely do not forget. A fan was quick to bring up the cancellation of AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am’s final round due to inclement weather and safety concerns. They also pointed out how this must impact the advertisers that sign up for the Tour, thus posing a sarcastic question. The netizen wrote, “Did you already forget about the disastrous finish at pebble? Do your advertisers like it when you shorten events?”
