A week has passed since Rocco Mediate’s remarkable run in Jacksonville. He managed to clinch the title of champion as well as the $315,000 in earnings from Constellation Furyk and Friends. And now, the golf world’s eyes are all on the 2024 SAS Championship that will soon crown its winner on October 13, Sunday, after the third round. But will the winner also receive dollar bills in addition to the title of champion?
The simple answer to that question would be a ‘Yes’. The SAS Championship, as per PGA Tour Hq and the standard prize money distribution chart, boasts a prize purse of $2.1 million. Out of the same, a sum of $315,000 will be awarded to the winner, while the runner-up gets a figure of $184,800.

Every dollar senior professionals earn from the 2024 SAS Championship will be converted to a single point on the standings. What’s more, after the end of the ongoing tournament, the top 72 athletes in the standings will qualify for the Dominion Energy Charity Classic, following which the top 54 will advance to the TimberTech Championship.
Then comes the 2024 Charles Schwab Cup Championship, which would witness the top 36 athletes in the standings after the end of the TimberTech Championship duking it out for glory. Padraig Harrington will look to keep his position in the standings by claiming a victory at the SAS Championship on Sunday.

Teeing off Saturday’s play at T2, the golfer carded 5-under 67 on the second day of play to gain a three-shot lead while going on to Sunday. He did so by dishing out thirteen birdies, seven of which came in the second round alongside two bogeys at the par-4, 15th, and the par-4, 18th. Moreover, if he does claim a win at the SAS Championship, it will make his third victory of the season.
Impressed? It’s natural to be so since he has a very good chance of winning the SAS Championship on Sunday, seeing as how Harrington is a perfect 4-for-4 convert for the win whenever he has held a 36-hole lead in a 54-hole PGA Tour Champions event. His previous two wins, interestingly, came at the Hoag Classic Newport Beach and the DICK’S Open. Will he be able to claim his third triumph? Do keep an eye out!
