It’s been two weeks since Paul Broadhurst clinched the title of champion in Monterey. But the focus is now shifted towards Jacksonville, Florida, where the PGA Tour Champions will find their next winner. Excited? Quite natural to be so, seeing as how there’s just one more day for the Constellation Furyk & Friends to find its winner for the year 2024. By winning that top spot, the golfer will also receive dollar bills alongside the glory and honor that come with it!

Held at the Timuquana Country Club, the tournament this year has seen many, including the likes of Rocco Mediate, Bob Estes, and Vijay Singh, dishing out remarkable performances. However, only one among the field of 78 athletes will be able to claim the winner’s cut from the total prize purse of $2.1 million. How much will that amount to? Well, as per PGA Tour Hq and the standard prize money distribution chart, the champion will receive a sum of $315,000, with the golfer at T2 getting $184,800.

Although the PGA Tour Champions do not offer any OWGR points to the golfers in their field, it does, interestingly, add to the Charles Schwab Cup points list. This makes it all the more crucial to the athletes who are outside the top 72 on the standings since there are only two more events left until the start of the playoffs.

Each of the dollars earned in the Constellation Furyk and Friends will get converted to a single point on the Charles Schwab Cup standings. At the end of the regular season, the top 72 at the end of the SAS Championship will qualify for the Dominion Energy Charity Classic. But only the top 54 from the first playoff tournament will advance to the TimberTech Championship, following which the top 36 qualify for the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.

The ongoing tournament does not just help the golfers gain money but also stands to help those in need, all thanks to the foundation created by the 2024 Presidents Cup skipper and his wife.

The significance of the Constellation Furyk and Friends

Started in 2021 by Jim Furyk and his wife, Tabitha Furyk, it was founded to raise funds for their foundation, The Jim & Tabitha Furyk Foundation. Many of the top senior golfers tee it up to raise money, all of which would proceed to the Northeast Florida charities via the Foundation. As of now, the event has managed to raise more than $3,537,246 in dollar bills to help charities. 

How does it work? Well, nine communities have been chosen to be the direct beneficiaries of the ticket sales at the 2024 Constellation Furyk and Friends. Consequently, 100% of the money raised via the same will go directly to the charity. All proceeds from the tournament, meanwhile, will benefit a project of the Foundation’s choosing.
