Steve Stricker won the first major championship of the year
Steve Stricker recovered from a life-threatening disease a few months back. He was suffering from an unknown illness that kept him away from professional golf for over six months. However, he made a solid comeback as he won The Tradition, the first major championship of the year on the PGA Tour Champions.
Moreover, he annihilated the field and won the event by six strokes. He carded -21 for the event, while Padraig Harrington finished runner-up with a score of -15. Hence, after this victory, Stricker looked confident and was ready to compete at the Senior PGA Championship.
However, sadly, he got infected by covid and had to pull out of the second major at the last moment. Meanwhile, he hasn’t mentioned the severity, but we can expect it to be minimal.
So after the former U.S. Ryder Cup skipper announced this unfortunate news, the golfing world extended their support and wished for his speedy recovery. So, let us have a look at a few fan reactions that they posted on Twitter.
