The PGA Tour Champions’ Cologurad Classic is currently heading to the final round. While the competition among the senior members has been enticing, the scenes off the course have been beautiful. Golfers competing in the tournament have decided to wear a Blue Ribbon paying tribute to a Cancer survivor that they know of. While the gesture itself is heartwarming enough, the bond between David Duval and Charlie Rymer has won the hearts of the golf world.
The ongoing Champions Tour event is taking place at Omni Tucson National Resort in Tucson, Arizona. Each year, the participants sport a Blue Ribbon with a name of a cancer survivor written on it. The beautiful act has melted the hearts of many throughout the years.
In this year’s edition of the tournament, the 2001 Open Championship winner, David Duval’s Blue Ribbon, had the name of former PGA Tour pro, Charlie Rymer written on it. What is the bond between the two that led to Duval’s touching tribute to Rymer? Let’s find out.

PGA Tour pros heart-wrenching friendship
Before the duo earned the Tour membership, both men graduated from the same college, Georgia Tech. It was in the Atlanta-based college where both men played golf against each other. However, as their careers progressed from amateur to professional, the two friends struggled to find time for each other.
The blue ribbon on @david59duval's hat this week @CologuardGolf represents more than just a cancer survivor.

Nonetheless, this past week, Charlie Rymer was informed that his former college mate will be wearing his named Blue Ribbon at the Cologuard Classic. Last year, the former PGA Tour professional was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. While many were worried about him, Rymer’s wit and strong mentality helped him defeat cancer.
Following Charlie’s biggest win, David Duval decided to pay a tribute to his friend. The event in Tucson marked a reunion among the duo, as the Georgia Tech alumnus hadn’t met each other in a while. The two buddies spoke with each other, reminiscing their early days on the PGA Tour. Moreover, Rymer comically mocked his cancer by claiming he wishes to have lost weight through his chemotherapy sessions.
He also hoped Duval played better golf now since he has Rymer’s name written on his cap. The cancer survivor hilariously motivated his friend by saying, “Hope you hear that David”. However, the 2001 Open Championship winner is currently tied to the 37th position before heading to the final round. Duval trolled himself and his buddy by saying, “I’ve kind of played like a 4.0 handicap so far. So… kind of like Rymer”.
