Make no mistake, Sahith Theegala is an interesting golfer. Known for his introverted and humble nature and towering height, the World No. 22 has witnessed inconsistency. Think back to his statement when he was confronted about his star status, being 29 in OWGR in 2023: “I’m overrated.” Skip two years, and he is experiencing bad form despite being 22 in OWGR, and it’s causing a ruckus, to say the least.
So, in 2024, he finished T2 at Sentry, and this year, it was T36. At the 2024 Genesis, he was 17th when the play ended, a decent finish one would say, but not exactly the best. 52nd at Farmers Insurance Open, 53rd at Pebble Beach, T57 at Phoenix Open, a missed cut at the API, and T52 at TPC Sawgrass is surely bound to make one frustrated, and it all got worse at the ongoing $8.7 million Valspar Championship. So, what happened? Theegala hit a bad tee shot and ended up grabbing his club and slamming it hard. Fans did not like it at all and started calling out for his immediate suspension. After this, one rather expected figure has come to Sahith Theegala‘s defense.
It is none other than his girlfriend, Juju R. Chan. Chan took to Instagram and shared a vlog of her day. Obviously, it had Theegala losing his cool too. She had funnily captioned the video, “Hopefully only club twirls in round 3🤪” In it, Chan admitted she didn’t know her boyfriend had done what he did, and admitted, “He said he felt a lot better after the club throw, so I’m fine with it.”

Chan discussed Theegala’s performance in the round, adding that although he shot one over for the day, he’s still about “25th going into the weekend.” Theegala ended the Saturday at T23 with an overall score of 2 under par. Despite the ups and downs during the day, Chan shared they went to bed early! Well, at least we can say she is helping him deal with the sudden online hate!
But hey, don’t be surprised. This isn’t the first time Juju Chan has come on his side. Back in 2024 at the Tour Championship, and during the 4th hole, Sahith Theegala was in a bunker and felt he might have brushed some sand during his backswing. A rules official reviewed the video without finding anything significant. Despite this, Theegala received a two-stroke penalty.
So, Chan took to TikTok and shared a video and shared something important with the fans. If “he hadn’t said anything or he didn’t know then somebody would come forward later and say something about it and they reviewed it they saw nothing.” She added, “If he hadn’t, his eye test would have shown nothing so he wouldn’t have got the two-shot penalty.” Theegala called the rule “weird,” but, honestly, we all love a supportive partner! On that occasion, let’s take a look at a couple of their moments.

Sahith Theegala and Juju R. Chan share a playful but strong relationship
A past swimmer, Chan plays golf but only for fun. And, in fact, she even admits that she is quite bad at it. Last year, she posted a TikTok video of her playing golf and trying to improve her game. She captioned the video, “Why is golf so hard?” Despite her lack of finesse on the greens, she has been a strong support to Theegala.
In 2023, the golfer was busy on the greens given the upcoming Open Championship. Then, it rained. And as is the fate of the golfers, Theegala was busy playing then. But that’s his job. He has to be on the course. But Juju Chan was next to him–despite the intense pouring! She was standing on the range under the pouring rain with an umbrella, all smiles and jokes! A strong bond. But it’s also filled with lots of laughs.

Fast forward to a year later and Theegala makes his 3rd finish at the Tour Championship. He took home a whopping $7.5 million, but it’s Juju Chan who gave us an update about what he was definitely not going to do with it. She posted a TikTok, teasing Theegala regarding the plane seatings. She shared that despite the massive win, Theegala did not want to fly out in a private jet, saying, “He is being financially responsible or whatever.”
Ultimately, fans took their chance. One of the fans commented: “He’s using that money to buy you the ring you deserve. Fingers crossed.” And Juju Chan seemed just as hopeful and replied with a cheeky, “That’s the only explanation.” Come what may, at least we are sure there’s one person who will always stand next to him. On that note, let’s hope we do not get to witness Sahith Theegala like that again!
