For Rory McIlroy, the 2025 season has been nothing but a blessing. The Northern Irishman not only won two events (AT&T and The PLAYERS) before the Masters for the first time in his career, but he also became the 6th golfer in history to ever win a career Grand Slam. Having faced immense pressure to do so for 11 years, a tearful McIlroy couldn’t help but ask after the Masters: “What are we all going to talk about next year?!” But hey, why should only Rory McIlroy have all the fun? Thanks to his latest win, Smylie Kaufman couldn’t help but share a funny post on X, inspired by one major update from Rory McIlroy after his Masters win.

Sports journalist Smylie Kaufman turned professional in 2016, and since then, he has played in all four major tournaments (all in 2016): The Masters, U.S. Open, The Open Championship, and PGA Championship, despite never winning one. Additionally, he did not make the cut at the U.S. Open and The Open Championship. Undoubtedly, this is an impressive feat, placing him alongside golfers who have also played all four majors without a win, such as Colin Montgomerie, Rickie Fowler, and Brooks Koepka, among others. However, despite this feat, Kaufman could not help but take a dig at himself after this McIlroy social media update.

After making it onto the elusive list of career Grand Slam winners, next to big names like Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus, a proud Rory McIlroy updated his social media bio from, “I hit a little white ball around a field sometimesto: “Grand Slam winner.” Smylie Kaufman, who has participated in all four major events, couldn’t help but repost Golf.com writer Claire Rogers’ post and say: I’m changing mine to ‘Grand Slam participant”. Thanks to his win at the 2015 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, he made his way into The Masters (2016) and PGA Championship (2016).

As hard as Smylie Kaufman is being on himself, he is successful outside the course. Kaufman now runs the popular

The Smylie Show and has been NBC’s on-course reporter since 2023. However, this little post caught fans’ attention.

Golf fans cannot help but join in on the fun with Smylie Kaufman

The first fan couldn’t help but take a ‘dig’ at themselves like Smylie Kaufman did by saying, Then I’m changing mine to Grand Slam Spectator.” And that is something we can all relate to. Did you know this year a staggering 12.7 million people watched the Masters final? In fact, according to CBS Sports, the viewership peaked at 19.5M during the 7-7:15 p.m. (ET). So, we all watched! Kaufman couldn’t help but reply, “Might also do the same 🤣”.”

One of the golf fans tried to uplift the popular reporter’s spirit by reminding him of something by saying, I know he’s joking but it actually is insanely impressive to have played in all 4 majors.” Looking at Kaufman’s portfolio, you have to give him a little nod. Although he missed the cut in two of the majors in 2016, he finished T29 at the 2016 Masters!

Another fan took a hilarious jibe at themselves and replied, “Still impressive, the closest I’ll ever be to the grand slam is hungover at 9am in a Denny’s.” It took one of the greatest golfers of this century 11 years to score his career Grand Slam, so let’s not think of it as something everyone can do. It’s a tough job, and Rory McIlroy proved that! Congrats to the Irishman.

A fan decided to comment on Rory McIlroy’s bio change and said,Biggest “I’m Him” moment since Luka in the bubble against the Clippers.” Let us add some context to this 2020 basketball event. In the first round of the playoffs against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Dallas Mavericks found themselves down 2-1. In Game 4, Luka Doncic emerged as the hero for the Mavs. Leading the team with 36 points, he scored half of Dallas’ points in OT, securing a win and tying the series 2-2. Rory McIlroy did something similar (for himself), 72-66-66-73-3 (playoff).

Lastly, a fan replied to McIlroy’s update by changing my name to “grand slam tracker.” Well, aside from McIlroy, Woods, Nicklaus, Gene Sarazen, Gary Player, and Ben Hogan have finished the career Grand Slam. Indeed, we are keeping a record!
