Adam Scott over Tiger Woods for best swing? Is Min Woo Lee onto something or just biased?

Min Woo Lee has got his priorities straight! Younger brother to LPGA Tour pro and two-time Major winner Minjee Lee, the 26-year-old golfer has come up the ranks with a captain’s pick for the 2024 Presidents Cup International Team, among other achievements, since turning pro in 2019. And that has ensured significant public interest in the youngster. However, this time he’s turned heads for a different reason—choices that many would like to call mind-boggling.

Case in point: On October 9, the Australian golfer joined Golf Digest for a fun segment on Instagram. The caption to the video is self-explanatory: “Who has the sweetest swing in golf? We asked Min Woo Lee to blind-rank his favorites.”

So, 10 spots, countless icons. Who did Lee pick? First up was his sister, Minjee, starting off the activity on a high note. “I’ll put her at number three. She has a great swing,” Lee said. Next up was Rory McIlroy, the former world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking, who spent over a hundred weeks in that spot. He’s also a four-time major champion, having picked up wins at the 2011 US Open, the 2012 PGA Championship, the 2014 Open Championship and 2014 PGA Championship. Interestingly, he’s the only person to win the FedEx Cup three times, surpassing Tiger Woods’ two. However, McIlroy was only able to take the second spot on Lee’s list.

Now, what about the rest of the list? Well, Nelly Korda was placed at 4th, Ludvig Åberg at 5th, Tiger Woods at 6th, Bryson DeChambeau at 8th, Scottie Scheffler at 9th, and Lexi Thompson at 10th. But there’s a spot missing, isn’t there? Good catch! It was the 7th position, which Min Woo Lee reserved for himself.

And, number one? It went to the 2013 Masters Champ and fellow Aussie, Adam Scott. For the unversed, Scott turned pro in the year 2000 and since then has been a staple in the top ranks. For starters, he was the first Australian in history to win the Masters in 2013 (after beating Argentine Angel Cabrera), while being the first player with a long-putter to win the tournament. Additionally, the 44-year-old has 14 wins in the PGS Tour, along with 15 runner up finishes. To give you some more idea, Adam Scott has qualified for every single men’s Major since the 2001 Open (his streak spans 93 Majors). He also has 11 DP World Tour wins.

Guess it isn’t that surprising, seeing as how Adam Scott is popular for having one of, if not the best swings in modern golf. “The most picturesque golf swing,” some dub it, while others call it “poetry in motion.” Maybe that explains Lee’s decision, although Scott himself will completely disagree…

Scott and his favorite swings in the golf world

In an interview with Golf.com’s Claire Rogers, the Australian took to divulge the names of some golfers whose swings he enjoys watching. Topping the list was Ludvig Aberg. “Right now, everyone loves watching Ludvig Aberg because it’s easy to watch,” said the pro. “He makes it look pretty simple, it has great tempo, it’s powerful, and the lines look great — so it’s easy to like.”

The 24-year-old wasn’t the only athlete on Scott’s list. “I love watching Rory [McIlroy] play,” said the pro. “The power and the balance is appealing to me. I love watching Dustin Johnson swing the club as well.”

If you think the list is over, then you thought wrong. For the 1-time major champ also took to talk about Greg Norman, Fred Couples, Ernie Els, and Tiger Woods before dubbing them the “big inspirations.” He said, “Those are the swings that really stand out to me that had an impact and, at times, I’ve tried to mimic.”

Although some might not agree with the latter part of the list, including Bryson DeChambeau and Scheffler, few would dispute Scott claiming the top spot. What about you? Would you place him as the golfer with the best swing? If not, let us know whom you would rank at No. 1!
