The Ryder Cup event is a grand occasion and definitely requires dressing up well. However, since the players wear uniform clothes, it might appear that there is not much thought and effort going into fashion. That assumption is not correct, though.

Thoughts, effort, and investment go into fashion and apparel. Not just for the players, but for their partners as well. And this is not necessarily done individually by the players and their dates. Sponsors take care of this.

Now that the sponsors take care of the players, who are paying for the outfits of the wives and girlfriends of the players? Turns out, Ralph Lauren is covering that as well. We know this thanks to Jena Sims who has posted on her TikTok about the outfits for the formal night and the match day 1.

In one video, Sims had fit into a gorgeous white dress. The outfit was for the formal night on Thursday. Brooks Koepka was also ready in his tricolor and was ready to start off. This party was for both teams, apparently.

In the other video, Sims was flaunting her white and blue striped dress. It supposedly was designed to match the outfits of other “WAGs” for the Friday. She also showed off her white shoes and the pearl necklace that was part of the look.

A video on the PGA Tour’s Official Instagram handle clearly announces that Ralph Lauren has taken the responsibility to outfit the players with red, white, and blue. While the colors and the designs are similar, the clothes require fine making and flagship fit.

However, there is also the matter of the “clothing stipend” which we will get into now.

A recent episode of the Joe Pomp Show talking about how the Ryder Cup became a $500 million event, spoke about a stipend. Apparently, the players get sponsored for the match day clothes and the relaxation outfits and such.

In addition to this, they reportedly get a stipend of $7500 for shopping for their official dinner. This was what Jena Sims probably referred to as the Formal night, perhaps. To quote the host, he said, “So there’s been rumors in the past that Players were given $7,500 stipends to go and buy clothing for the event.“

The host then speculated about how the players might not actually have to shop for the event and are equipped. He considered how it is unlikely that the players might pocket the money but concluded saying they might actually do it.

Well, irrespective of who paid for their clothes and how much, the players and their dates all looked well presented during the event so far. Hopefully, the Sunday matches will be as interesting as these outfits!
