Ahead of the $6 million BMW PGA Championship, the reporter asked Viktor Hovland about his thoughts about Ludvig Aberg. And he responded that while he has not hung out much with the golfer, he is still very impressed by his game. Especially after they played with each other recently. Viktor also said that he has been paying attention to Ludvig’s results.
From how he spoke, the Tour champ really respects where Ludvig has brought himself so early in his career. “I’m just very impressed, not just the golf stuff because I’ve hardly seen his golf swing, or I don’t know anything about his game, but just the way he carried himself, his demeanor, seemed very mature. Seemed to enjoy the moment but wasn’t scared.”
Viktor also believes Aberg has the personality for the Ryder Cup. “I think that’s the type of personality that’s going to fit very nicely into the Ryder Cup. Didn’t seem like the moment was too big for him. I think that in itself as a rookie, just being professional for a couple months, that is way more impressive than any accomplishment that he’s made as a professional golfer, results-wise.”
Since Luke Donald revealed his picks, Ludvig Aberg has been on everyone’s mind. He is the breakout star for the 44th Ryder Cup edition. Three months ago, the Swedish player was an amateur. And his Ryder Cup debut will happen before he tests the greens in a major championship. As shocking as it may sound, this is happening. And not only Viktor Hovland or Luke Donald are supporting this, but also the four-time major champion, Rory McIlroy.

Amid the many competitive golf events, the conversations revolve around the upcoming Ryder Cup. Everyone is passing every week, getting closer to the coveted battle by playing events leading to it and testing the mettle of their game on the greens.
Last week at the Horizon Irish Open, Rory McIlroy also talked about his teammates for the patriotic showdown. He seemed completely satisfied by the captain’s choices. He was content that he had such commendable teammates to fall back on.
However, one of the players he zoomed in on was the much-contested 23-year-old Ludvig Aberg. McIlroy was so impressed by the young Swedish golfer that he said to know why he was the right choice, witness him hit the balls on the range at a PGA Tour event. He is in awe of his ball-striking abilities.

The players are focusing beyond the fact that Ludvig played at the college level before becoming a professional and heading to Marco Simone. It must fill you with hope if you are an aspiring golfer. Because if you have good enough skills, experience takes a back seat, and gameplay becomes essential for winning national glory.
