The 2023 FedEx second event, the BMW Championship is all set to take place this week. Only the top 50 points earners from the St. Jude Championship are going to play at the Olympia Fields North Course in Chicago. Amid the anticipation surrounding the upcoming tournament, there was a heartbreaking moment for one PGA pro golfer.

The 27-year-old golfer, who had secured a victory at the Zurich Classic earlier this year, experienced a moment of emotional breakdown as his season came to an end after finishing T49 at the St. Jude Championship. Let’s uncover the entire story.

Despite securing his first PGA Tour win in April 2023, Hardy had an overall average season. While he managed to qualify for the St. Jude Championship, his performance didn’t earn him a place in the second event of the FedEx Cup play-offs. Finishing at the 52nd position on the points standings, he fell short of qualification for the BMW Championship.

“It stings,” Hardy expressed his distress at being not able to qualify for the Chicago event. “I feel like I’m proud of myself for the season. I saw a lot of growth in my game.” The American professional golfer went on to say while he plans to go to Chicago to meet his family, not being able to perform there would cause him great anguish.

PGA Tour took to Twitter to share the video of Hardy and wrote, “So much to be proud of. An emotional @NickHardy8 reflects on his season coming to an end.” In the video, fans can catch a glimpse of the deep pain reflected in Hardy’s eyes as his season came to a close.

Hardy, however, remains optimistic about future tournaments. “I’m just a competitor. I just love competing,” he concluded.

Looking specifically at his performance in the St. FedEx Championship… the Illinois golfer got off to a promising start with a score of 3-under 67 in his first round. Unfortunately, his performance gradually declined, resulting in him finishing T49 on the leaderboard and 52nd on points.
