The BMW Championship has come to an end and the highly anticipated Ryder Cup Competition is now rapidly approaching. Only a dozen golfers will represent the American side in Italy next month. Rickie Fowler, who began last week in the 13th position in the Ryder Cup rankings, too had his sights set on securing an automatic spot. Unfortunately, the six-time PGA Tour winner experienced a lackluster performance on the third day of the BMW Championship.
Regrettably, this turn of events shattered the dreams of the much-adored golfer. Frustration enveloped him as he realized that his current form had already messed things up for him. He blurted out a lot of things in despair. Let’s see what he said.

The American professional golfer looked good for a Ryder Cup automatic spot when he won the Rocket Mortgage Classic in early July. It was his first win in four years. Things have not been great since for the 34-year-old.
During that fateful day at the BMW Championship, Fowler struggled in the key area of putting and ranked 45th in strokes gained. Saturday’s round resulted in five frustrating bogeys, ultimately leading to a disappointing score of 3 over 73. It was a bad omen in regard to his Ryder Cup automatic qualification hopes.
Fowler didn’t take long to indulge in an honest self-assessment. He minced no words. “A little frustrating on my side as you guys can see.” Furthermore, he talked about the challenges he faced while playing on the course. Golf on CBS took to Instagram to share the video and captioned it as “Rickie Fowler takes the mic 🎤 @bmwchamps.”

Fowler now finds his fate in the hands of US Team skipper Zach Johnson who possesses “six captain’s picks” to finalize the roster. The upcoming tournament this week — the Tour Championship — has no effect on the rankings in any way but it provides Fowler with a golden opportunity to impress Johnson.

In the wake of the BMW Championship, nothing has changed for Fowler in terms of his Ryder Cup rankings. He remains 13th in there. However, there is a silver lining for the “Heartthrob of the Golf World”. He has qualified for the next week’s Tour Championship in Atlanta.
With only the top 30 players from the FedEx Cup standings advancing to East Lake, Fowler will have an opportunity to showcase his skills and make a case for his inclusion in the Ryder Cup. It is crucial for him to perform exceptionally well in the tournament. It’s a make-or-break opportunity for him, to all intents and purposes.
