The second leg of the FedEx playoffs is already underway. Fans are truly captivated by the thrilling tournament unfolding before their eyes. As the first round of the event came to a close, the current leader of the BMW Championship Rory McIlroy, took center stage during a press conference. 

Among the various topics discussed, he shed light on the winner of the first FedEx event. Expressing his utmost admiration, he praised the incredible talents of Lucas Glover. He also emphasized that Glover’s undeniable prowess has already been proven and acknowledged by all.

During the press conference, the moderator posed a question to McIlroy, asking for his perspective on the recent accomplishments that Glover has been associated with over the past few weeks. To which, the 34-year-old golfer replied stating, “ Yeah, it’s been unbelievable.” 

Furthermore, the Former World No 1 shared an interesting insight wherein he revealed that just a couple of days ago, he stumbled upon a fascinating piece of data from Data Golf. According to their rankings, Glover is currently recognized as the ninth-best ball striker in the ShotLink era, spanning from 2004 onwards. 

Moreover, he eloquently praised the 2023 Wyndham Championship Winner’s recent breakthroughs in perfecting his ability to successfully place the ball in the hole. McIlroy also emphasized that within the tour, there is unanimous admiration and respect for the 43-year-old golfer without a single hint of criticism. “I think everyone has been happy to see him play so well,” McIlroy signed off.

Coming back to the $20,000,000 BMW Championship, following the opening round, Glover is on the T23 on the scoreboard, while McIlroy is co-top of the leaderboard with Brian Harman.

The BMW field that consists of the top 50 players has currently got McIlroy at the top position. He sets the early pace in Chicago by shooting a bogey-free 65. Both World No. 2 McIlroy and Open winner Harman, birdied the 17th hole to share the lead after round one. Well, with three more rounds to go, the results may alter substantially.
