When it comes to father-son duos, the most prominent one in the current golfing world is that of JT and Mike Thomas. However, there were rumors circulating that the PGA Tour pro had asked his dad to take a step back from coaching.

Soon after these rumors surfaced, Mike dismissed them, as reported by the Twitter page NUCLR GOLF, saying, “You’re kidding. That’s just stupid. That’s what some people in the media do. It’s ridiculous. I just left Justin. We worked all morning.”

He also added that even if Justin fired him in the future for the better, he doesn’t see anything wrong with doing so. He went on to say that at this juncture, people just want anything to talk about.

As a father, he wants what is best for his child, and like any other father, he would always be on the lookout for his son and his best interests. However, there is no smoke without fire, and while Mike Thomas might still be on board, JT did have an overhaul of his staff recently.

Justin Thomas’ controversial staff changes and their impact

JT has made significant changes to his team weeks before the big Ryder Cup event. One of these decisions was his parting ways with his putting coach, John Graham, whom he had been working alongside since December 2020.

Justin Thomas now wants to address all his putting issues independently and by working closely with his father, who is also his swing coach. Despite coming under fire recently for his terrible performance this season, he is working diligently to improve his game for the upcoming Ryder Cup and bring honor to his country.
