A major part of the golf community is just waiting for one thing, a resurgence of the legendary Tiger Woods. The golfer had been absent for quite a while despite making a short appearance at the Masters, owing to the many health issues that arose after the accident in 2021 and the subsequent complications leading to surgeries.

But, after spotting the Hall of Famer numerous times on and off the course in the past few weeks, hope of his return has been reignited in the golfing world again. However, amid such reports of his comeback into the game, Mr. T has been hit with a devastating setback of sorts, the “lowest” he has ever gone in his professional career, no less!

The American has garnered a lot of accolades after turning pro in 1996. He has won 82 times on the PGA Tour including emerging victorious at 15 majors over the 27 years. However, the unfortunate accident and the surgeries resulting in a hiatus from the game have taken a toll on the 1997 Masters Tournament winner’s career.

In February 2023, Woods reached No. 1294 on the Official World Golf Rankings. This was the lowest that he had reached before his on-course appearance at the Masters that took place in August from which the golfer was forced to withdraw due to his ankle injury and the resulting plantar fasciitis surgery.

However, misfortune has come looking for Mr. T yet again as he dropped down to “the lowest world ranking of his career” on the OWGR this week. Numbering at 1307, the 82X PGA Tour champ has a long way to go if he is to get back the No. 1 spot that he spent 683 consecutive weeks in.

A drastic setback for sure! Moreover, the professional would need to dish out an amazing display of skills on the course if he is to ever regain his prime form. And, recent sightings have surely shone a light on the hopeful return of the 47-year-old.

Although a major chunk of the community wants him to reach No. 1 again, it seems unlikely since the Hall of Famer himself had revealed how he would only play at a handful of events after his return to the game. What do you think of the new OWGR rankings? Let us know in the comments below.
