Although golf is not as physically demanding as other sports, it is nevertheless one that asks a lot from the golfer. And, for a player like Tiger Woods who is returning to the same after a long road of recovery, it might turn out to be a bit hard to handle. However, the problem is not as if it’s without any solution.

Many people tend to drive a golf cart on the course to prevent themselves from getting exhausted. However, for a professional of the sport, such as Woods, the case is different. But even so, when one looks at the health problems that the Hall of Famer has experienced in the past couple of years, the question naturally arises – will the 15X major champ finally resort to the vehicle on-course at the Hero World Challenge?

The 47-year-old had to withdraw from the Masters Tournament in 2023 after suffering from plantar fascitis on his ankles. And, as he makes a grand comeback into the game after seven long months, his fans are naturally concerned about his health, leading many to become curious as to whether he would use a cart at the Albany Golf Club.

Answering all those questions with a resounding NO’ was none other than the legend at the press conference ahead of the event. The golfer was asked whether he would be able to walk the 90 holes during the presser to which Mr. T jovially responded that he’s “not concerned at all about walking it.” Adding on, the 47-year-old mentioned how he is currently free of the “ankle pain” with the “hardware that has been placed in his(Woods’) foot.”

Continuing on with his response, the 15X major champ divulged how “it’s the other parts” that hurt. Elaborating more on the same, the 82X PGA Tour winner said, “Just like when I had my back fused. The force still got to go somewhere. So it’s up the chain.” Nevertheless, the returning athlete was spotted displaying nothing short of a hopeful demeanor as the professional expressed how he’s “just as curious” as to what’s in store for him since he hadn’t competed in a while.

Well, that does sum up the worries of his supporters along with the answer to the question of whether he would use a golf cart. However, surprisingly, the legend himself had spoken heavily against using golf carts in the past.

The reason behind Woods’ distaste for golf carts

The Hall of Famer had, a long time back, spoken up against using carts on the course for the events sanctioned by the PGA Tour. The men’s golfing body does not permit its players to drive the same unless there is an exemption that has been granted by the Tour owing to medical reasons. And, following the rule to a T is the legendary athlete who is set to brave the fatigue and exhaustion brought about by the greens.

The 1997 Masters Tournament winner is fine using the vehicle in tournaments such as The Match and the PNC since they allow every player to do so unlike the PGA Tour events. However, he would never resort to it during the upcoming event, which is a tournament sanctioned by the men’s golfing body. Although he has earned the right to take one for himself, the golfer seems to be happy being on his feet.
