While a hopeful Rickie Fowler awaits Rocket Mortgage to give the verdict on their shared future, the latter seems to be curiously looking at other options. Fowler’s longtime sponsor seems to be considering a budding golfer full of potential as its next big bet.

Yes, you heard it right. As they choose to keep Fowler, their former poster boy, hanging by a thread, the famous conglomerate seems to be moving fast to find a new poster boy to possibly fill the former’s shoes. The famous brand’s recent praise of this young talent has led the golf world to think in this direction. But who is this new face?

Who grabbed the attention of Rocket Mortgage?

The Detroit-based company has shown its interest in Aldrich Potgieter in recent times. The Korn Ferry Tour pro recently colored the golf world in his colors of victory by becoming the developmental tour’s youngest winner ever. Rocket Mortgage, interestingly, has cast a keen eye on the 19-year-old and has offered him an enormous opportunity already.

Well, it is not a sponsorship deal yet, but the American mortgage lender has offered the 2024 Bahamas Great Abaco Classic winner the 2023 sponsor exemption to the Rocket Mortgage Classic, a right reserved for the major sponsor. This has sparked doubts in the minds of fans of the LLC’s potential interest in the talented pro.

Acknowledging the 2022 Amateur Championship winner’s recent historical win, Rocket Mortgage Classic was quick to express their support for Potgieter. They wrote on X, “Congrats, Aldrich!” 

It is suspected that this sweet gesture might not be as innocent as it seems. It might be the beginning of a new start for the Varun Krishna-led enterprise. But why haven’t they given a verdict about Fowler?

What about Rickie Fowler?

Well, even after Fowler’s initial optimism that he would strike a deal and continue his relationship with Rocket Mortgage, the company has not given a decision yet. They continue to leave Fowler’s case pending. This has, in some ways, brought their relationship with the pro since 2015 into question.

Even after going through years of trials and tribulations together, it is feared that, like Farmers Insurance, it is possible that Rocket Mortgage will also let go of the 35-year-old’s hand, who has recently transitioned into his role of a ‘Family Man’.
