Does Tiger Woods' 'Sunday Red' still strike fear into his competitors, or is it just nostalgia now?

Remember February? Tiger Woods’ fans would! Yes, that was when the legend announced his new clothing line, Sun Day Red, to the world. Fast forward 7 months, and the brand has now launched its new line, ‘Heritage,’ as part of its ‘Logo Collection,’ starting at $115. But the journey, however, has been rocky, to say the least. For they raked in a lot of backlash over the months. Even so, Woods’ and the brand’s vision seem to have remained the same, as divulged by none other than its President.

“The cool thing about working with Tiger is he’s just absolutely engaged, and thinks a whole lot about the product,” confessed Brad Blankinship, President of the Sun Day Red brand. He was speaking in an interview during the new episode of the SiriusXM PGA Tour podcast. The head of the company also added how the 15-time major champ takes care of each of the products, using the example of the new line that was released.

The President also highlighted how the 82-time PGA Tour champ examines each material of the products in the ‘Heritage’ line, including the materials with which they are made. And the result of his observation? “We get tons of feedback and insight from him,” disclosed Blankinship before expressing excitement about the whole process. “It has been a really cool process to work with him on products. So, he’s very very into it.”

That’s not all Brad Blankinship had to say about the new ‘Heritage’ line. “Fans definitely want what Tiger wears,” added the President of Sun Day Red as he laughed about the whole matter. “And this collection is just that.” The head of the brand highlighted how each of the products was manufactured before revealing that all of it came from Woods. “Everything that we, kind of, mined from him is in this product. So, yeah, it’s very much what he’s wearing and playing in every day.”

What about Tiger Woods then? Well, even the golfer admitted how involved he was during the whole process in an interview with Forbes, “Throughout this year, we’ve been working on new polos, and I’ve put them to test in real-time during competition.” What’s more, the 15-time major champ also pointed out every detail of the collection while proving his point; “We’ve been focused on every detail: materials, fit, collar stays, buttons, style, logo application, and more.” But alas, the reaction from the community was anything but receptive!

Tiger Woods’s new Sun Day Red collection dunked by fans

“Overpriced. So no. Never,” is what one fan stated after taking a look at his recent line that was released on September 12, Thursday. Following the release, NUCLR GOLF released a picture of the same on its X handle, under which many in the community came to express their dissatisfaction with the line.

What’s your perspective on:

Does Tiger Woods' 'Sunday Red' still strike fear into his competitors, or is it just nostalgia now?

Have an interesting take?

If you think that the fans took to stop their reactions with just a response on the price, then you’re sorely wrong. Many took to their X handles to mention how “This looks like s–t,” while others just commented, “Man, I love Tiger but the entire SDR brand is a total flop. These look like the polos you can find in the clearance rack at TJ Maxx.”

These were but some of the reactions that a not-so-happy community dished out after the release of Tiger Woods’ ‘Heritage’ line. What do you think? Do you agree with the responses that came about or do you feel they were exaggerated?
