There are only hours left for the Memorial Tournament to begin at the Muirfield Village Golf Club. As one of the competitions with participation from many of the world’s top golfers, the fans look forward to watching the tournament. As one of the most popular events on the PGA Tour, here are some of the details that one would need to know about the event!

According to the field released by the officials, the competition is going to be tough this week. Starting from June 2nd, top golfers, including the defending champion Patrick Cantlay and other top golfers, will try to claim the title at the Muirfield Village. Notably, Muirfield has been hosting the event since its inception in 1976. 

Since the competition is tough, with most of the top orders on the OWGR standings present on the field, it is hard to make a power ranking.

5. Collin Morikawa – Since the 2021-22 season began, Morikawa hasn’t won an event. However, the 2-time major winner has only missed the cut once in the tournaments he appeared in. The Memorial Tournament will be a chance to shine for the 25-year-old golfer. 

4. Will Zalatoris – Turned pro in 2018, the young golfer has been showcasing some incredible skills this season. Furthermore, he has secured in the top ten, five times in his last ten starts.

3. Rory McIlroy – He has been one of the few promising young golfers who could play consistently this season. Other than missing the cut at the Valero Texas Open, McIlroy had a good season so far on the PGA Tour, including a victory at The CJ Cup and a runner-up at the Masters. 

2. Jon Rahm – The former world no. 1 has recently won the Mexico Open. Along with making the cuts in every event except for one, his experience in winning the Memorial Tournament is one of the reasons that give Rahm one of the top two power rankings. 

1. Patrick Cantlay – Cantlay is the only golfer on the field who has won at the Muirfield Village Golf Club more than once. He had won the event last year, making him the defending champion, and in 2019. Since he has experience in winning the tournament twice, the odds of him winning are high. 

Prize money for the 2022 Memorial Tournament

Founded by the veteran golfer Jack Nicklaus, the Memorial Tournament offers a $12 million total purse money. The winner’s share from it is $2,160,000. 

Like every other PGA Tournament, a cut is made after two rounds after which only 65 and ties will advance. And the golfers will only be eligible to win the prize money if they finish all four rounds.
