Having lived through an exceptional golf career, Mickelson is reaping rewards for his consistency at the game’s highest level. The six-time major championship winner has many records to his name, but the latest one got him into an elite company, one even Woods would find difficult to get into.
As it happened, Mickelson’s five-over par in the opening two rounds of the PGA Championship helped him make the cut at the tournament by a whisker. But he didn’t have any knowledge of its implications, which narrated a story in itself.
With his PGA Championship cut, Mickelson has officially booked his weekend spot a hundred times in major championships. But what did Mickelson have to say regarding his colossal achievement?
“This first 100 cuts has [sic] been interesting. The second 100 is going to be the most interesting part,” he joked when told about the record. But on a serious note, the 45-time PGA Tour winner claimed that he didn’t have knowledge about reaching the unique position but also maintained that it was a result of hard work and dedication over the years.
