The LIV star shot a 72 in his second round, dropping him out of the top 30. However, Lefty still managed to make the cut, making it his 100th cut at a major championship in 119 starts. While many were quick to point out this incredibly centurion feat by the golf pro, he himself had lots to say about the past two days too.
The 52-year-old rushed to Twitter following the conclusion of the second round at Oak Hill and shared his genuine sentiments. Mickelson began the tweet by acknowledging his poor performance and expressing excitement for a new opportunity in the third round. While praising the course, the six-time major champion acknowledged how challenging it is to distinguish between identifying the best courses and making them look awful. The two-time PGA Championship winner also praised the PGA and Oak Hill.
“Well done PGA,” he wrote. “It’s never easy to find the line between identifying the best or embarrassing them. Oak Hill and the PGA nailed it!”, he wrote in the tweet.
Didn’t play as well as I expected but tomorrow is another opportunity. Oak Hill is as great a major course and set up as I’ve seen. Well done PGA. It’s never easy to find the line between identifying the best or embarrassing them. Oak Hill and the PGA nailed it!

The two-time PGA Championship champion has now tied the record previously held by Raymond Floyd and Jack Nicklaus.
Moreover, his humility in praising the PGA in spite of all the previous controversy and amid his whopping accomplishments won over many fans’ hearts.
