The PGA Championship is turning out to feature numerous unexpected twists with each passing round. With Scottie Scheffler currently leading the field, tied with two others, several talented players are way behind on the leaderboard. Not to forget, players like Jon Rahm are nowhere to be seen among the top 20 in the tournament.
However, despite his not-so-pleasing performance, Rahm is still one of the best golfers in the world. And believe it or not, beating him is still a dream for many. But when one golfer found out that his performance had been better than that of world No. 1, his reaction was priceless! Moreover, the golf world went all in to support this PGA pro on his massive achievement.

Considering his recent performances, especially his Masters victory, the PGA Championship has not been that great for Jon Rahm. The golfer is currently tied for 48th, along with several others, including Cameron Smith and Xander Schauffele. Not to mention, fans were expecting way more than this from the world champion.
However, there is someone who got really emotional after finding out about being ahead of the golf star on the leaderboard. And it was none other than 46-year-old club professional Michael Block. The Californian golfer has been in the news ever since he found his spot among the top players after the first round ended.
Michael Block is the head pro at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in California — a public course.
He charges $125 for a 45-minute lesson and is currently tied for 10th at the PGA Championship.

Block is currently tied at 10th and, as reported in a recent video, is beating Jon Ram “by six shots”. Well, if that’s not an achievement on its own, then nothing else is. But to everyone’s surprise, the golfer was unaware of his feat. And when informed, he couldn’t stop himself from shedding a few tears out of happiness. Here’s what he said about it:
“Pretty, pretty cool, to say the least… I wish you guys could come to my office and hang out with me and… my students who are out there right now… I don’t know why that makes me emotional, but it does. Sorry, Jon. But yeah, you know, I don’t know who I beat, who I didn’t beat. I’m going to go out there and do my best and put my head down and play as well as I can for the next two days.”
"I don't know why that makes me emotional but it does."
Michael Block was brought to tears when he was told he is out in front of Masters champion Jon Rahm.

Block’s emotional speech about being ahead of the reigning Masters champion quickly garnered attention in the golf world, and everyone had an opinion about the PGA pro’s feat.
Fans react to Block’s lead over Jon Rahm
The PGA Tour shared the viral video on Twitter, and golf fans have been responding in all kinds of ways. While a lot of fans are showering their love over on Block, others are cheering him on and sending luck his way to win the tournament.

Keep it up! You can win this
— Scotty Meyer (@ScottyMeyer4) May 19, 2023
Well, even if the player doesn’t make it to the top of the leaderboard, he has already made the cut and is above several PGA Tour stars and LIV golfers in the event. That in itself is perhaps a big win!
