The PGA Championship has been nothing less than a bumpy ride for fans as well as professional golfers. With Scottie Scheffler’s T1 lead, the tournament seems to be heading in a new direction altogether.
However, there is someone else who has held onto the attention of the fans since the beginning of the tournament. And it is none other than LIV Golf’s ‘hulk’ Bryson DeChambeau. And as he receives appreciation from the golf world, Phil Mickelson has something pretty special to say about the player.

DeChambeau has been away from the headlines for quite some time now. However, he couldn’t help but get noticed ever since he stepped on the course for the PGA Championship. The golfer has made his mark once again with his unfathomable performance during the first two rounds at the major tournament.
Certainly, his performance has earned him the attention of millions of golf enthusiasts around the world. However, he also managed to impress someone who is known for being brutally honest with his opinions about the game and other professionals. In his recent press conference, Lefty opened up about how he wasn’t very surprised to see DeChambeau back in his best form at the mega-event.
When asked if he expected such great play from DeChambeau, Mickelson said, “Yes… It’s a lot like Winged Foot, open fronts, hit it long, advance it on the green, and he’s been playing well.” However, it was still a surprise for most golf fans to see the golf star back in action after a long time off the leaderboard.

How has Phil Mickelson fared at the PGA Championship?
Despite praising his LIV Golf colleague for his epic round, Mickelson couldn’t reach his own expectations at the tournament. As per his statements, Lefty was very positive about his game in the beginning. “I came in here very optimistic,” he said. “The first two days, I’ve played terrible. I’ve driven it poorly. I’ve not felt good with the putter. I haven’t chipped great. My irons have been average.”
Ever since his T2 finish at the Masters, fans have been expecting him to put on a show each time he steps on the course. However, his recent LIV Golf performances have also been pretty disappointing to watch. But luckily, he played well enough to make the cut and play through the weekend.
