The 46-year-old’s unexpected performance at the major stunned the entire golf community, earning him praise from the fans. But the golf fans weren’t the only ones partaking; a legend of the sport and the PGA pro’s idol too acknowledged his incredible feat this week and applauded him for it!

At the PGA Championship, the 46-year-old finished the third round in a tie for eighth place. Due to this performance, he became the hottest topic in the golf world. Following his heroics on Saturday, Block talked in an interview about his childhood golfing experiences and his heroism in the sport. The rising star revealed that he used to wake up early and watch the European Tour, and like all children he too had a favorite golfer, who was none other than the legendary Colin Montgomerie.
Now, just hours after that interview, Montgomerie has also joined the fans in singing the PGA Club pro’s praises. The 59-year-old took to Twitter to express his views on Block’s interview, citing him as his idol. In the tweet, the Hall of Famer wished the 46-year-old luck and advised him to keep up his great attitude. He wrote, “Wishing Michael all the best and keep up the incredible mental attitude that he has portrayed during the first 3 rounds.”

Although the 46-year-old clearly idolized the icon as a child, receiving praise from your own hero is undoubtedly a huge accomplishment. The 59-year-old’s remarks have certainly completed the circle in Block’s golf life that began with the Scotsman and has now once again xcome around to him decades later! The legend’s comments undoubtedly fueled Block, perhaps even driving him to his incredible performance on Sunday!

Without a doubt, Block was not as well known last week. However, the 46-year-old has recently altered his entire description over the course of four days. He is no longer just another PGA pro; instead at Oak Hill, the Californian flaunted some of his best moves on the course! In each of the first three rounds of his seventh major championship start, the 46-year-old shot even-par 70. Block was also tied for eighth place and only six shots back of leader Brooks Koepka after the third round.
Block played the final round with Rory McIlroy. He finished with a final score of 281 after shooting a final round of 71, tying for 15th place with Eric Cole and Tyrrell Hatton. In addition to this, the golf teacher also made a historic hole-in-one on Sunday, and has cemented his name in the golf world as an elite pro!
