The PGA Championship is officially underway, with some of the best golfers on the planet battling it out against each other. But so have been fans and pundits alike, who chirp their bits and pieces about the game’s latest announcements.

Not to shy away from issues surrounding the sport, social media influencer Paige Spiranac has her own woes ahead of the PGA Championship. The matter forced her to dress up in an atypical way, which sent a message against a prevalent issue in women’s golf.

With a legion of fans following her word to the letter, the internet sensation has become a voice for change within the golf domain. With the PGA Championship scheduled this week, Spiranac used the opportunity to make a claim about a widespread issue in the women’s game – golf attires.

Swathed in well-dressed golf clothing, the 30-year-old recorded herself talking about her critics’ demeaning statements about her own attire. But in a fully-cladded dress, she expressed her concerns over the current situation.

“I think the dress code should be more relaxed on the golf course because,” she said before revealing her whole attire, “I am uncomfortable. I want my spandex, and I’m missing my spandex right now.”

It isn’t the first time the internet sensation has made such a claim. A month ago, Spiranac had used strong words to defend herself against accusations of sexism, which she vehemently denied.

A miracle in the social media space herself, can Spiranac stir a change in the rules concerning women’s clothes on the golf course? Whether she’s successful or not, there have been various instances of vehement appeals over the matter, one of which even involved LPGA star Lexi Thompson mocking the ruling.

How did Lexi Thompson respond to LPGA’s dress conduct?

On the morning of 2nd July 2017, all LPGA Tour-sanctioned players received an email from Player President Vicki Goetze-Ackerman about the latest dress guidelines for future events. Some of the codes were considered dire and were objected to in some form by several golfers.

But expressing the concerns in a jovial manner, 2014 Chevron Championship winner Lexi Thompson posted a picture of herself in an old-fashioned dress. The photo was originally taken in one of her endorsement campaigns, which fitted in perfectly for the agenda.
