The PGA Championship has been a bumpy ride for the fans, considering the disappointing performances of several top players on the course. But at the same time, there are some who have made their mark on the leaderboard, and are coming across as really talented professionals. Not to mention, one of these newly-emerging talents is Michael Block, who is currently among the top 10 players in the field.

Holding on strong to his T8 position, the golf star has left behind several talented pros in the tournament. However, before being a PGA pro, Block is a respected golf coach to his students back in California. And while talking about how he goes about teaching the game to them, the golfer made an unexpected statement about golf legend Tiger Woods, and his tour buddy, Rory McIlroy.

Being a golf instructor comes with a huge responsibility. But when the coach leaves no stone unturned to prove his abilities in his own professional career, his students can definitely trust him with their eyes closed. However, that doesn’t affect Block’s ways of training his students in the best possible way.

With a record of being Southern California PGA Player of the Year for nine out of the last 10 years, Block has been nothing less than the Golf God for his students. And this is because his teaching methods include a personalized touch for everyone learning under him.

While speaking up about how he goes about training young aspirants, Block mentioned how he doesn’t have one fixed way of teaching. “I don’t teach one way,” he said. “I teach what that person has the capability of doing and learning, and that’s been a huge benefit of teaching for the last 25 years for me.”

But during the conversation, Block also hinted at how he would never teach any of his students to swing their clubs like Tiger Woods or Rory McIlroy. Not because he can’t, but because it’s not so easy to master. “I’m not trying to teach anybody Tiger’s or Rory’s swing, because that’s just not going to happen,” he stated. Notably, his statements also pointed towards the respect he has for both these legends and their skills.

Can Michael Block win the 2023 PGA Championship?

Block has been giving it everything he has to reach the top spot on the leaderboard. And in this process, he has successfully left behind some of the world’s best players including Patrick Reed, Cameron Smith, and even Jon Rahm.

However, he is currently tied at 8th along with his Californian fellow, Justin Suh. And not to forget, in order to win the title, he will have to defeat legends including Brooks Koepka, Scottie Scheffler, and Bryson DeChambeau. Hence, the chances of him finishing first are pretty thin at the moment! Do you think he can fight his way through to the top? Let us know in the comments section below.
