The second Major of the 2024 season is just two weeks away, and well, the reigning champion, Brooks Koepka, is nowhere even close to his best form at the moment. Although he enjoyed a T5 at the Mayakoba in February and a T9 in the Adelaide, the 5X Major champion, is struggling in all the other events, failing to even make it to the Top-10 list.

To add to the list, Brooks Koepka also had his worst finish at 45 in the Masters, after making the cut. Nonetheless, he has had a hot start to the ongoing LIV Golf Singapore, tying for a second position at -5, only one stroke away from the leader, Sebastian Munoz. Yet, this gives him no boost in his confidence for his major goal – winning the Majors!

At the press conference at the LIV Golf Singapore, Brooks Koepka shared how he has been feeling vexed. His putts have been lipping out, no matter how great a shot he made. However, as Round 1 concluded and he had given a great performance, the LIV Golfer was asked whether such a round was helping in boosting up his confidence.

To this, Brooks Koepka, whose sole goal is to win the title at the PGA Championship and tie with Phil Mickelson for the maximum number of Major wins after Tiger Woods, blatantly replied, “To be honest with you, not a whole lot.” He said that he was still worried about being able to give his best at the two upcoming Majors, where he has already secured a spot for himself due to his exemption. Koepka said, “I just look at it as like it’s a process. Not trying to peak this week, not trying to peak next week, it’s the week after.”

Brooks Koepka is not someone who seems to be worried too often. But this time, he has not been able to hide his concerns. “My confidence is there. It’s not — it’s just the results haven’t been there,” the Smash GC captain further reflected on his performance so far this year.

Brooks Koepka undoubtedly has a great grip on the Majors. He has won in all of them at least once, except for the Masters. That is where, Scottie Scheffler, the 2X Masters Champion(2022, 2024) comes in. With a dominating performance throughout the PGA Tour this season, after the Arnold Palmer Invitational, he has been on a winning spree. While Brooks Koepka is struggling to get back in his form, his most significant threat in the field of Los Angeles, Scheffler is out there resting, aiming to come back relaxed for the next Major, after winning the RBC Heritage.

Apart from that, there are other PGA Tour star golfers like Ludvig Aberg and Max Homa, who are also hot favorites ahead of the PGA Championship. Koepka’s LIV Golf comrades, Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith who put up a stellar performance at the Masters this year, will want to add the highly coveted Wanamaker trophy to their hat. Jon Rahm, who like Koepka failed to make his mark at Augusta earlier this year, will want to shut down his critics! Nonetheless, will LIV Golf enjoy another victorious feat after Adelaide, with Brooks Koepka defending the trophy? Or will the PGA Tour outshine this one? Stay tuned to find out!
