There was a time when the Saudi-funded LIV Golf was portrayed as one big happy family—a family that had no riffs. The image of one big, joyful family quickly went down the drain when the news of the first internal riff between the LIV star, Brooks Koepka, and his Smash GC teammate, Mathew Wolff, came out. It seemed that LI Golf’s iconic and withstanding dream of presenting itself as one came crumbling down with that one news. As if the internal quarrels between the teammates were not enough, there came some more bad news and tough moments for the Saudi League.

There have been many other instances that have made LIV Golf’s and LIV golfers’ lives a lot more difficult than they were supposed to be, such as OWGR points, backlash, name-calling, and so on. Such hard situations are bound to make a person wonder and contemplate if their decision to switch from PGA Tour to LIV golf was worth it or not. Well, with everything going on, the LIV Golf defector might be sitting and wondering about his move with none other than the 5X major champion, Brooks Koepka.

Should Brooks Koepka contemplate his move from PGA Tour to LIV Golf?

Brooks Koepka turned his back on the PGA Tour and decided to move to LIV Golf for $100 million. His contract with the Rebel League withstands until 2025, and after that, he can either join LIV Golf or may come back to the PGA Tour. Though the money he got from his decision was hefty, his journey in the Saudi League has not been very good so far.

Ever since making the switch, he has only won two events, one in 2022 and one in 2023. He is returning to Jeddah this year to defend his title since winning there last year. His lone 2023 victory in the league has been the Orlando one. Not that the 33-year-old golfer was a win machine on the PGA Tour, but he definitely had more than two wins in two years, unlike LIV Golf.

Apart from fewer victories, the golfer will never be able to reclaim his number one position in the Official Golf World Rankings. After almost 1.5 years of submitting a letter to OWGR for considering LIV Golf for standings and points, it was announced yesterday that the Saudi League will not be given a place in the league. This means that no matter how well the 2023 PGA Championship winner plays, he will never be able to reclaim his throne in the apex position of OWGR.

It can be speculated from the fewer wins and the OWGR decision that the golfer might be having a tough time. It appears that his journey on the Saudi tour has not been very smooth. During one of the Ryder Cup interviews, Keopka pointed out that if his LIVmates wanted to be a part of the Ryder Cup squad, they should have played better golf. Koepka was chosen as a captain’s pick for the US team, and many of the worthy LIV golfers, such as Bryson DeChambeau and Talor Gooch, were overlooked, which may be causing a snub in the players.

The golfer pointed out that he had as much chance as any other LIV player, and he did not receive any special treatment. Even during the press conference at Marco Simone, when he mentioned playing better, he sounded a bit off, hinting at a probable feud with some of his league mates. Keopka was supposed to represent the entire LIV Golf team at the prestigious Ryder Cup, but it seems that was not the case.

With everything that has gone down with the backway league and Koepka’s subpar performance except during the 2023 Masters and 2023 PGA Championship, he hasn’t had much luck bonding with a few of his Smash GC teammates as well.

Koepka has probably burned a bridge with Matthew Wolff

When Koepka used to play on the PGA Tour, there were no reports or rumors of him having a feud or trouble with any of his fellow golfers. But with LIV Golf’s team format, Keopka heads one of the 12 teams, Smash GC, and one of his teammates, Matthew Woff, is kind of a ‘wasted talent’ according to him. Speaking about Wolff’s performance, the 33-year-old commented a while ago that he had given up on him. After the comments, people noticed that Wolff had been removed from Smash GC’s social media, and none of his teammates were on his list either. After Koepka’s comments, Wolff was heartbroken, and he mentioned that he does not owe any words to anyone. He claimed that he would rather let his work do all the talking.

Now it seems that a few bridges have already burned and cannot be fixed. After the recent caddie championship that LIV Golf organized, Smash GC posted a picture of its squad, and fans were quick to notice that the 24-year-old golfer was nowhere to be seen in the picture. It raised a lot of speculation as to what has gone down between Wolff and his teammates—that they cannot even sit together and smile for a picture.
