Since LIV Golf’s inception, the golf fraternity has arguably been revolving around the long-standing rivalry between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. The introduction of LIV Golf knocked the socks off of the entire golf industry, and rightfully so. The imagination and concept of the Saudi-backed league were such that it posed strong competition to the PGA Tour.
With one new alleged rivalry brewing in golf, one friendship was also brewing in a different corner: the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour. But with recent developments in the golf world, it seems that the alliance might take the backseat and the DP World Tour will allegedly rise to power.

Numerous unexpected things have happened in the last few days in golf. For instance, Jon Rahm announced that he is withdrawing from Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s tech-supported TGL. The announcement shook the golf world and raised a lot of questions in the fans’ minds. The dust was just settling on Rahm’s TGL exit, and out of the blue, another hard-hitting McIlroy news story hit the golf world.
Very unexpectedly, the Northern Irishman announced that he had resigned from the PGAT Policy Board. McIlroy is one of the most influential figures in golf, his decision to step down from the PGAT Policy Board created a lot of mayhem in the golf community. His decision led to a rise in a lot of bland theories of him being against the PGA Tour because of their move with LIV Golf.
The 4X major champion later clarified that his decision to step down had nothing to do with the $3 billion merger but with his other commitments. Rory McIlroy is committed to the European Tour as of now, and he is currently competing in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai and will also be competing in the Dubai Desert Classic in January 2024.
Not only this, but the DP World Tour has also been receiving a lot of support from fans after the recent OWGR snub. Both tours are amidst their season-ending events, and OWGR has given more points to the PGA Tour’s RSM Classic (38.74470) instead of giving equal or more to the European Tour’s DP World Tour Championship (27.71108).
With all the support that the DP World Tour is appearing to get from fans and Rory McIlroy, it can be rightly said that this is indeed a good time for the aforementioned tour to claim its rightful spot in the spotlight. For years, the European Tour has not been able to get the same spotlight as the PGA Tour, but it seems now is the time!

The blazing-hot tournament between the F1 racers and PGA Tour pros was streamed live on Netflix on November 14, 2023. The four pairs of 1 racer and 1 pro each were set to go against each other in an epic 8-hole match, wherein the final two pairs standing would then battle out on the 9th hole for the sudden death. Though the event was highly anticipated, it failed to grasp the expected hype from the audience.
Fans found this well-thought-out combination of F1, golf, and entertainment to be a miss. They found the entire event to be a bit scrambled, but the last-moment rule change on the first hole is what topped the chart.
