The golf world was stunned by the news of a merger between the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour, and the Saudi-backed LIV Golf. The deal, announced on June 6, 2023, will create a new global entity that will oversee the commercial rights and operations of the three tours. However, till now, there has yet to be an outcome.
The deal is in the negotiation phase and the PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan has said the 31st December deadline remains “a firm target” for completing a proposed merger with LIV Golf and the DP World Tour. Recently, Bryson DeChambeau sat down on a podcast called ‘Good Good Podcast’ and discussed various things about golf. The 30-year-old also shed some light on the behind Al-Rumayyan’s $3B interest in the proposed merger between the Tours. He said, “Yeah, there’s a personal reason why they want to help the golf game of golf. And it’s a good thing. It is a great thing. And I can’t emphasize that enough.”
The 8x PGA Tour winner draws a parallel between his own passion for making a positive impact on the lives of people in his local community, specifically around Fort Worth and Dallas, and the shared vision of those involved in this potential mеrgеr. Hе said, “They have that same vision for their hometown. And doesn’t mean we all can’t work together and make it make the game of golf better for everyone in the world.”

According to SBNation, twenty-one PGA Tour players have hired attorneys to get more answers from the PGA Tour Policy Board regarding LIV Golf negotiations. This group hired Susman Godfrey L.L.P. to represent them, and the law firm wrote a letter to the PGA Tour Policy Board on Dec. 10, 2023.
