Golf’s very own superhero and all the rage right now is 25-year-old Norwegian, Viktor Hovland. The young golfer has been on the American Tour professionally for only 4 years and he has already made history.

In the past two weeks, he won back-to-back tournaments, in the FedEx Cup playoffs no less, and amassed great fortunes. He doubled his career wins this season and has quickly become a household name. But is everyone a fan of his proficiency?

The golfer from Oslo is all set to play on Team Europe at the Ryder Cup 2023. His rising fame brought him many more followers and admirers. After all, making it into the elite 30 of the Tour Championship is a herculean feat. Winning it right after clinching the BMW Championship title is absolutely awe-inspiring. But Hovland handled it with grace.

Yet, the prospect of the neck-to-neck playoff with Collin Morikawa in Round 2, getting his edge back against Xander Schauffele in Round 3, and finally defeating the 7-time PGA Tour winner was astounding. But the challenging positions did raise the stakes for sports better, and those people may not be too thrilled about Hovland’s victory over Schauffele.

The 25-year-old golfer shared similar sentiments when he sat down with Dylan Dethier who asked him about “Hovland haters.” The calmest golfer on the PGA tour replied with a chuckle, “I’m sure there are. Probably lost some people some money out there.” He wasn’t offended about the haters as he added, “I probably p***ed off some people.” His jovial and humble attitude even in the face of prospective haters is one of the reasons his admirers are so very fond of the Norwegian rising star.

Hovland is a substantially established golfer, still, he has hardly been in the limelight a lot, except for his statement-making wardrobe, of course.

Hovland proposed a solution to connect more with his fans

The Tour Champion admitted in all honesty that fans see him play golf but they don’t really know him. He agreed that it is hard to get to know an entity on the TV screen. However, he did have an enlightened idea to resolve the issue.

Hovland proposed that if he made podcasts worth 10 hours on a weekly basis, it might allow fans to get to know him. Of course, these ideas were bounced with humor, but one can’t help but wonder if fans would really want it. It would be an incredible opportunity to get to know the tremendously talented PGA Tour pro.
