Waring made his debut on the then-European Tour at the 2018 Nordea Masters, and since then, he’s experienced several near-misses, with numerous second-place finishes and close calls. His breakthrough moment came on his 200th start, securing his first DP World Tour win after competing on the tour since 2008, having qualified through Q School in 2007. Before turning professional, Waring had a stellar amateur career, winning the English Amateur Championship in 2005 and captaining England in the Home Internationals.
His career reached new heights when he shot a course-record 61 in the second round at Yas Links, marking the start of the best week of his career. He sealed the victory with a final-round six-under-par, holding off Tyrrell Hatton, as well as Rory McIlroy, Matt Wallace, and Tommy Fleetwood, who were all within striking distance. This win was indeed a special one for him, as it not only pushed him up the standings but also earned him a PGA Tour card. So what were his companions?
