Is Pat Perez's time in LIV Golf coming to an end? Can he turn things around?

The LIV Golf 2024 season is nearing its end! Every shot counts for the golfers, as only two events are left in the 2024 season, after the ongoing LIV Greenbrier. The pressure is certainly mounting on the players as they eye securing their spots for the 2025 season. Now, as the game heats up, a familiar face finds himself teetering on the edge of disaster. And one of them is seasoned veteran Pat Perez of Team Aces GC.

In a shocking turn of events, Pat Perez finds himself in uncharted territory, just above the drop zone. The 48-year-old’s fate hangs precariously in the balance as he sits in the 48th position on LIV Golf’s Individual standings. He had a T15 finish at LIV Las Vegas, T22 at LIV Jeddah, and a T14 place finish at LIV Nashville, he managed to scrape together 7.76 points from the 11 events he’s participated in. However, with only two events left to play, the margin for error is razor-thin. One misstep, and he’ll tumble into the drop zone, which could lead heartbreaking miss from the next LIV Golf season. To keep his place in the Saudi-funded league, he will have to go through an LIV Golf Promotions Event at the end of the season.

To make matters worse, his Aces GC team is also struggling to find its footing. Currently, they are languishing at the bottom of the standings at the LIV Golf Greenbrier. Even the presence of their illustrious captain, 2x major winner, Dustin Johnson, hasn’t been able to stem the tide, and the team’s dismal performance has only added to Perez’s woes.

However, as things stand after round one in Greenbrier, Team Aces GC, with their 2-under score, currently sits in the last spot. Moreover, they are 18 shots behind the group leader, Smash GC, captained by Brooks Koepka. The task ahead seems monumental, but Aces GC needs a miraculous turnaround to turn the tides in their favor and ultimately help their teammate avoid the relegation zone.
