A not-so-appealing position on the leaderboard? Not to worry if playing in LIV Golf. Ever since its announcement, LIV Golf has been known for its hefty financial commitments. The benefit of which was recently taken by Pat Perez. The American golfer has been struggling to perform in the Saudi Arabia-backed league. However, that hasn’t stopped him from pocketing massive paychecks.

Following unpleasant results in Portland, Bedminster, and Boston, the 46-year-old recently played the Chicago leg of LIV Golf. However, despite giving his all, the Arizona player failed to match up with the game of his peers in the league. At the end of the third day, he stood at the 31st spot on the leaderboard. However, despite finishing at a not-so-pleasing position, Perez managed to pocket close to a million dollars as his prize money.
The math that led to Pat Perez pocketing nearly a million dollars
As mentioned earlier, LIV Golf has been known for its hefty financial commitments. Something, that has been visible in the events held to date. As per reports, the minimum purse of each LIV Golf event is a whopping $25 million dollars. Similar was the case with Chicago.

Dissecting the purse, the winner (Cameron Smith) received prize money of $4 million. Going down the leaderboard, Perez, with an even-par score, finished at the 31st spot on the leaderboard. Referring back to the distribution of the purse, Perez received total prize money of $154,000.
While that was his individual earning, the magic came in the form of the team earning. Ever since joining LIV Golf, the former World No. 16 has been a part of Dustin Johnson led team, 4 Aces. Looking at the team leaderboard, it is the team that dominated the Chicago leg of the Saudi Arabia-backed league.

Touching back on the reports, along with players, LIV Golf has opted to fill the pockets of the winning team with a whopping check of $3 million dollars, split amongst its players. Simplifying the fact, every player of the winning team is bound to receive an additional amount of $750,000.
Adding the individual prize money of Perez to that of his team earnings, he received a final paycheck of $904,000. An amount that gets one to believe that even a not-so-pleasant finish on the leaderboard is not a problem if playing in LIV Golf.
