Rickie Fowler’s recent decision against LIV Golf couldn’t have been louder. The former World No.4, who has resisted offers from LIV Golf in the past, was seen alongside Tiger Woods arriving in Delaware for an unofficial meeting of 22 PGA Tour players, firmly affirming his intentions. However, social media star, Paige Spiranac, still had reservations about Fowler’s decision and discussed the latter’s impact on the game.

What did Paige Spiranac say about Rickie Fowler?
In her recent episode on the podcast ‘Playing a round with Paige Renee’, Spiranac discussed the possibility of current PGA Tour golfers switching to LIV golf. While a host of names were mentioned, Fowler’s introduction emanated a series of discussions.

“Honestly, from an outsider looking in, that’s gonna be a massive, massive get for LIV because when you think of the face of golf, I would gather that most people, besides Tiger Woods and Rory, people would say Rickie Fowler, and you still see little kids dressed up as Ricky, you see grown a** men dressed up as Rickie Fowler,” Spiranac said.
“And when you think of the face of the PGA Tour, a lot of people are gonna go to Rickie Fowler. And so with him moving over to LIV, that’s gonna be a huge loss for the PGA Tour.”

“Ricky would be hurt the most,”: Spiranac
Among players who are still a part of the PGA Tour, Paige felt Fowler would be the worst hit when it comes to commercial endorsements in recent years. “I feel like Ricky would be hurt the most out of all the guys when it comes to sponsors, right? Because you can’t turn on Golf Channel or really any channel and not see at least one rookie commercial, every commercial break, like, you know, because so when these guys aren’t getting rolled ranking points, that hurts their sponsors more than anything,” Paige said.
Indeed, Fowler has fallen off the grid in recent years. He plummeted from No.10 in the world in May 2019 to a current rank of 173, his lowest ranking in more than 12 years. His last win came three years ago at the 2019 Phoenix Open.

However, despite receiving offers from the LIV Golf series, Fowler has stayed on the PGA Tour. He didn’t make the cut for the season-ending BMW Championship after finishing a lowly T64 at the St. Jude Championship. But he was still in attendance for the PGA Tour member’s meet in Delaware to show his support for the existing organization. How long will this loyalty last, is a question which remains unanswered at this moment in time.
