Paige Spiranac is a professional golfer turned social media influencer with more than 10 million followers across all social media channels. She is known to be vocal about the negative comments she receives and has always tried to help her peers when they become a victim of online bullying. 

Hence, when the TikTok star, Addison Rae faced online abuse, the former professional golfer was more than happy to come out in her support.

UFC offered Addison Rae to cover a preliminary event ahead of the UFC 264: Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor in 2021. And she announced her achievement through a social media post. 

Soon, many started accusing her of taking away the position from a more qualified applicant., whereas her fans tried to defend her. However, Rae later posted an “nvm y’all got me fired” tweet, implying her gig was over. 

Nonetheless, Rae received many criticisms for getting an opportunity that many reporters yearn and work hard for. And her fellow social media star, Spiranac, couldn’t help but support her in this situation. 

Spiranac’s response towards the hatred Allison Rae received

“Should we hire someone who busted their butt through college,” a netizen had tweeted. “And genuinely loves UFC and is hungry for an opportunity in journalism?? Nah, let’s hire Addison Rae because she’s popular for “throwing it back” on tik tok.”

“Don’t discredit all her hard work. UFC is smart to hire someone with millions of followers.” The 1-time Cactus Tour winner was quick to respond when the netizen retweeted Rae’s post with a harsh comment.

Addison Rae then had an impressive 38.6 million followers on Instagram back when the incident took place. As of now, she amasses a following of 40.4 million. Furthermore, she ranks number 4 for the most followed TikTok user in 2022, with a whopping 88 million followers.

According to Spiranac, she has been bullied her entire life. As a professional golfer, she received hatred from people for receiving more attention than any other player.

She has experienced bullying and knows the struggle inside out. Therefore, Spiranac offered to work with the Cybersmile Foundation to spread awareness of online abuse. The golfer became an ambassador of the NGO working against cyberbullying.
