DIY-Embarrassment. It’s the first thing that comes to mind when looking at the ongoing Valspar Championship events. It started with Patton Kizzire. The 3x PGA Tour winner lost his temper after missing a short putt. Pissed, he kicked his putter over the green. Then, he had to use a spare club out of his bag to complete the hole because he had dented his putter! But that wasn’t the end of it.

Skip to the next day and we will have Sahith Theegala going through the same frustration. He hurled his iron in disgust after an errant tee shot on the par-3 fourth hole during the second round. Add the fact that the iron slipped out of his hand after the shot–and, well, he did what we all have seen by now. Unfortunately, this frustration seemed to follow into the third day. And it wasn’t from Kizzire who eventually withdrew from the Championship nor Theegala, but Adam Hadwin!

What happened? Well, a lot. So, have you ever hit “Print” too many times because it’s not working? Then, suddenly it spews out 50 copies. Now, the button is your club, the paper is 40 feet of water spraying everywhere. Really. After carding a level-par first round, Hadwin made a one-par on Friday, eventually bringing him closer to that dreadful cut line. His bad luck wasn’t over, yet. After that, he made a double bogey on the 10th hole and it finally got to him. Now, angry and pissed, he hit his club hard into the ground. The issue? It wasn’t the grass at all but the sprinkler head.

The water sprayed out, 40 feet in each direction. Ah yes, golfer-induced-fountain – PGA course’s new feature. Is your sprinkler system acting up? Just get a frustrated golfer to smack it. Honestly, though, his reaction made sense, but this entire situation was so funny that fans – and Paige Spiranac – couldn’t stop laughing! Taking to X, Paige Spiranac made a quote repost of the @NUCLRGOLF and captioned this: “The course has seen enough club throws this week and is fighting back now lol.”

This Paige Spiranac post does not need an explanation. We have already seen through a few examples. So, now, having had a look at another incident, let’s go and see what the fans are saying!

Golf fans cannot help but cackle along at the situation

Some golfers let emotions flow, but Hadwin also chose water. A fountain-in-one! Fans are relishing in the comments but before we get into any other, let’s take a look at what the comedy genius, Wesley Bryan has to say. “Kudos to whoever had the camera rolling! This is 1) egregious 2) hilarious On another note: I wish I could hit something that solid with a golf club right now….I would attempt and miss at that as well.” For those who don’t know Bryan is known for his hilarious post. Just a few days ago, he gave his fans a life update, resulting in a comedy spiral because he had added: “blew my back my sneezing.” It’s not similar to Hadwin’s case but embarrassing nonetheless!

What’s your perspective on:

Is Adam Hadwin's sprinkler mishap the funniest golf moment of the year, or just embarrassing?

Have an interesting take?

Looking at this situation, golfer Michael Kim, currently active in the Valspar Championship, also laughed. He ‘blamed’ the sprinkler head for his 10th hole par and then added: “This was a joke btw, I find this hilarious 😂 Adam prob didn’t see the sprinkler covered by the rough.” If Hadwin’s reaction is anything to go by, he didn’t. Humiliated, the golfer only muttered a small “sorry.”

Another fan said: “Haha, karma in full swing!” This one does not need an explanation. We all saw what happened and, honestly, that swing was a work of genius! So, take another look at that swing, and this one comment will sound funnier!

The next fan had a very accurate observation to make: It seems to be a trend lately on the course. Hate to see it Well this year’s Valspar Championship has seen its fair share of temper tantrums. On day one we had Patton Kizzire, who dropkicked his putter after missing a putt. On day two we had Sahith Theegala throwing his club in a fit of rage and on the third day, Adam Hadwin. Will a fourth golfer have a boiling moment? Well, let’s wait until the final round!

Lastly, a fan posted a video of the incident and said: “Wait imagine if this happened when the security guard tackled Hadwin.” To understand this one moment, we will have to go back a little in time. In 2023, at the Canadian Open, Hadwin rushed to the 18th green to celebrate Nick Taylor’s win, spraying bubbles from a bottle. To protect Taylor, a security guard jumped and tackled Hadwin. Now, imagine that happening here!

So, what do you think of the situation? Even more importantly–will it happen again?
